It's fair to say that the 63rd Grammy awards were pretty memorable this year, and not just because of the social distancing in place.
Last night (Sunday, March 14), the heavy-hitters of the music industry gathered at an anonymous marque outside the LA Convention Center, and despite the restrictions in place, managed to put on a show that was every bit as entertaining as those that have come before it.
So without further ado, for the benefit of those who missed out on the glitzy ceremony, here's a highlight real of our top ten most memorable moments.
1. Harry Styles opening the show:Former One Direction member Harry Styles opened the show, taking to the stage wearing an eye-catching green feather boa, and belted out a stirring rendition of his song 'Watermelon Sugar.' The track ended up bagging him Best Pop Performance - making him the only 1D member ever to be recognized by the Recording Academy.
2. BTS performing 'Dynamite':K-Pop band BTS delivered a high-energy performance of their hit 'Dynamite' - which is their first song to be released completely in English - from an amazingly-accurate recreation of the LA stage constructed in South Korea's capital of Seoul, just for the occasion.
3. Cardi B's on-stage rendition of 'WAP':Cardi B's NSFW track 'WAP' was the tune everyone couldn't resist last summer, and in typical provocative Cardi B style, she took to the stage along with fellow-rapper Megan Thee Stallion to perform the track with a sensual dance routine.
4. John Legend accepts his Grammy with Chrissy Teigen:In a more light-hearted moment, John Legend decided to accept his award for best R&B album from home. His wife, Chrissy Teigen, decided to share his reaction on her Twitter account and posted a video showing John celebrating by cooking pasta in a stylish Versace bathrobe.
5. Beyoncé and Jay-Z's daughter Blue Ivy winning a Grammy:There's something to be said for good genetics, and it's clear that Blue Ivy Carter - the nine-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z - has them in spades. Little Blue Ivy managed to become the second-youngest Grammy winner in history after picking up the award for Best Music Video category with her visual and song 'Brown Skin Girl.'
6. Lionel Richie's tribute to Kenny Rogers:However, the award show wasn't all mirth and elation, and a number of artists and industry figures paid their respects to those who had passed away over the last year.
The most memorable tribute came from Lionel Richie, who sang 'Lady' in honor of his late friend Kenny Rogers, closing out his performance by saying, "I miss you, Kenny. I miss you, man."
7. Beyoncé breaking the record for most Grammy wins by a female artist:Not to be outdone by her daughter, Queen Bey managed to make history herself, breaking the record for most Grammy wins by a female artist with her 28th win, overtaking bluegrass singer Alison Krauss.
8. Dua Lipa's musical workout:Dua Lipa performed a number of tracks from her hit lockdown album Future Nostalgia, in a high-octane session that would have tired out all but the fittest performer.
9. Taylor Swift becomes first female artist to win Album of the Year three times:Taylor Swift also managed to take names at the awards show, managing to become the first female artist ever to win Album of the Year three times. Pretty impressive, huh?
10. Billie Eilish wins Record of the Year:Finally, Billie Eilish managed to win Record of the Year for 'Everything I Wanted.' But in her typical humble way, Eilish insisted that Megan Thee Stallion should have won Record of the Year too.
So there you have it - even if you didn't manage to catch the Grammys live, you can now consider yourself up to speed. No need to thank us.
