Kid Rock song with controversial lyrics resurfaces ahead of Turning Point USA Super Bowl halftime show
Kid Rock’s inclusion as the headliner for Turning Point USA's Super Bowl LX halftime show has stirred debate. The country-rock artist is set to perform alongside Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.
While the lineup has garnered criticism from those outside of the MAGA movement, Kid Rock’s statement before the announcement has raised more than a few eyebrows.
In the statement, he takes aim at Bad Bunny, stating per Variety, “He’s said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish. We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.”
The criticism around the performance intensified after the resurfacing of lyrics from Kid Rock’s 2001 song, 'Cool, Daddy Cool.' The track, which was featured on the soundtrack for Osmosis Jones, includes a verse that has drawn ire for its disturbing content.
Kid Rock sings, “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage. See, some say that’s statutory.” followed by the late Joe-C's line, “But I say it’s mandatory.” The lyrics, widely regarded as inappropriate, have led to renewed discussion about Kid Rock’s involvement in the event.
Controversy grows over Kid Rock’s lyrics
The resurfacing of these lyrics has sparked significant backlash on social media, with many users questioning the decision to include Kid Rock in a show that claims to support family and faith values.
Parker Molloy reshared JD Vance’s post and shared the lyrics to X, writing, “Maybe he’ll play this one!” The song’s disturbing content has fueled the debate, with some critics mocking the timing of the performance, especially considering the public scrutiny surrounding controversial figures.
Fans react to Kid Rock’s inclusion in the show
While much of the attention has focused on Kid Rock’s past music, his upcoming performance has led to mixed reactions. Some fans continue to support him, pointing to his long-standing image as a rebellious figure in the music industry.
However, others have expressed discomfort with the timing of his Super Bowl appearance, especially following the release of the Epstein files, which have reignited concerns about figures in the public eye.
As the date of the Super Bowl approaches, many are waiting to see how Kid Rock will navigate this controversy, and whether the criticisms will impact the final lineup for the event. Regardless of the outcome, the performance is set to remain a hot topic of conversation leading up to the big game.
