On Friday (January 21), it was announced that the rock legend Meat Loaf had passed away at the age of 74.

In a heartbreaking Facebook post, the family of the beloved chart-topper wrote: "Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends."

"We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man," the statement added, before concluding: "From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!"

Since the news broke, many of Meat Loaf's fans have been taking to social media to share their favorite memories of the star - real name Lee Aday (formerly Marvin Lee Aday) - including the star's greatest tracks.

One of the most popular answers from fans is Meat Loaf's 1993 single, 'I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)' from the album Bat Out Of Hell II.

The original album version clocked in at an epic 12:01, with subsequent shorter edits being released. The song's lyrics tell the story of two lovers who are attempting to find harmony in their relationship, with the man promising the woman that would do anything she asks of him.

An international success, the track reached the number 1 spot in 28 different countries and earned Meat Loaf a Grammy for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance.

However, despite the song's enduring popularity, Meat Loaf once revealed that he hated performing it.

Back in 2017, the singer and actor was taking part in an interview to promote the Bat Out of Hell musical - a stage production based on the songs by Meat Loaf and collaborator Jim Steinman.

During the interview, leading man Andrew Polec reveals that his favorite Meat Loaf song is, in fact, 'I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)' - to which the singer replied: "And I hate it."

Meat Loaf then clarified: "I don't actually hate the song, I just hate having to go perform it, because it was such a big hit that the audience expects perfection. And in a live situation, there is never perfection.

"So I am so pent up about singing that song that it is never perfect and I am always upset at the end of the night because I'm going, 'I screwed up Anything For Love again'."

Despite the singer's own apprehensions about the track, his 2007 performance of the song in London, Ontario, is an absolute masterpiece - check it out below:
