B. Smyth has tragically passed away at the age of 28.

The RnB singer's unexpected death was confirmed by his older brother, Denzil, who shared a video to Smyth's Instagram page on Thursday (November 17).

In the heartbreaking announcement, Denzil revealed to his younger brother's 160,000+ followers that B. Smyth (real name Brandon Smith), had passed away on Thursday morning "from respiratory failure after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis."

You can watch the heartbreaking announcement below:

"It's very tough for me to make this video, beause I thought that I would never have to make something like this," Denzil says in the video, asking fans to provide his family with privacy at this time as they "cope in this situation".

In the video's caption, Smyth's family writes: "My brother was very excited to see a lot of you create challenges for his latest released single #Twerkoholic part 2 while he was in the ICU, it really brought him a big smile to his face.

"So on behalf of my brother and my family we want to say thank you to all of you for all of your love and support throughout the years."

'Twerkaholic, Pt.2' was the title of Smyth's single released just three weeks ago - as the singer was being treated in the intensive care unit at the hospital. The track has sparked a series of dance challenges and videos on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram - something that Denzil explained that B. Smyth had been watching while in the hospital.

Denzil tells his late brother's fans: "All those new TikToks and Instagram reels made him really, really happy... He was able to have a smoother process... All the love and light you were sending on social media he really felt it and sunk into it."

B. Smyth experience his first dose of success around 10 years ago when he gained attention on YouTube for his music covers of Miguel's 'Quickie' and Rihanna's 'Stay'.

After signing with Motown Records in 2012, B. Smyth collaborated with 2 Chainz to release the single 'Leggo'.

The following year, he would release the EP The Florida Files.

Perhaps his biggest commercial success came in 2014, when he released the predecessor to his latest single, 'Twerkaholic'.

This would be followed by the release of his 2017 studio album Thr3 and his 2021 EP It's Yours For the Summer.

Following the news of Smyth's passing, fans and those in the music industry have been flooding social media with tributes:
