Two senior army veterans are gaining a cult following and millions of views on YouTube after forming a rap duo, at the respective ages of 75 and 91.

Their expletive-ridden tracks combined with 'modern rap production' have seen the two geriatric lyricists becoming an unexpected hit on social media.

And the duo - who are based in Queens, New York City - believe age is no barrier and feel rap is a natural fit for their voices and talents.

One of the duo's first releases Money Talks features the lyrics: "Flip the bird at the red light. Phone sex with my ex-wife. Four bottles in one night. I’m on the subway home having fistfights."

Frank, 75, one half of the duo said: "Back in my younger days I was a musician, then I got busy, started a business and raised a family.

"Last year I had oral cancer and I had to have radiation. After that I thought I’d like to do something to take my mind off the situation.

"I asked Maury, why don’t we write some rap music? Maury has always been game for everything. So we started rapping last summer. I’d never done it before.

"This is what’s happening now and that’s what people listen to these days. We’ve been alive long enough that we’ve heard every type of music there was. Maury’s good with words so he came up with some stuff that I think is pretty cool."

Maury Martin, 91, had a slightly different answer as to why they decided to pursue rap instead of another genre, as he explained:

"It’s because we can’t sing normal music and make it sound good. Rap is natural to us. Singing a ballad or a love song isn’t going to suit our voices. We’re singing what’s best for our abilities.

Opening up about his knowledge of modern slang, Maury said: "I’ve done a lot of personal research and I am well-read. I don’t know it all and some of it amazes me, but I know a good bit of it."

And despite the fact both veterans have the desire to become global rap superstars, their path to success hasn't come easy.

The duo was discovered by their British producer Steve Barnes while riffing in a Dunkin’ Donuts in Queens.

"Maury and I were trying to lay down some tracks at Dunkin’," Frank said of the pair's humble beginnings, adding: "The customers were into it, but the manager didn’t like it and asked us to leave. Steve Barnes, our producer, saw this and he came up to us and asked, 'What are you guys doing?'

"We didn’t have the technical abilities [to produce music]. If it weren’t for Steve we wouldn’t have gotten it off the ground."

Their videos have now racked up millions of views on YouTube.

Barnes, 25, from London, said: "The guys decided they wanted to make the most of the short time they have left on the planet. The thing is, the music is incredible. I helped them to produce and clean up their music and to date, they have released three music videos on WorldStarHipHop."

But neither Maury or Frank could have predicted the success they have had after just a few months of performing.

Frank said: "It just amazes me and Maury. Although we’re astute electronically and digitally, we’re older. How we got five million viewers, I don’t know.

"I read some of the comments and I’m pretty astounded. They’re pretty nice about the whole thing."

Maury added: "I am frankly, amazed. I’m amazed that two old guys doing what we do, although we do it with some class, have gotten this many views. My grandkids love it.

"They say, 'Look at Grandpa. Look what he’s doing.' Maybe that's the secret. If we were only in our forties no one would pay attention to us."

"No matter what happens or where you are in life, do something fun," Frank said of his newfound passion, adding: "You never really have to give up."

Well done, boys! We look forward to hearing some of your future releases!
