Netflix fans have taken to social media to warn others about a terrifying new horror movie that people are saying is best watched with the lights on with other people around.

Horror movies are something you either love or hate as some people relish the sweat-inducing fear while others end up throwing their furniture around the room.

Despite it being a divisive genre, it is also one of the most popular so there is clearly a market for it - and Netflix has its finger on the pulse.

Dropping titles such as The Haunting of Hill House and Bird Box, they have made a name for themselves in the world of horror and they have just dropped a new movie that comes with a warning.

Watch the trailer for Don't Listen below:

Don't Listen, or its original title Voces comes with the synopsis: "After a tragic turn of events at the new home he's fixing up, Daniel hears a ghostly plea for help, spurring him to seek out a famous paranormal expert."

Has that tickled your fancy? Maybe wait until you hear the words of warning from those who have already viewed it before you rush to your TV.

It would seem that the Spanish film, unlike some horror movies, is genuinely scary and this has sparked an outcry on social media as people urge others not to watch it alone.

One person took to Twitter to write: "Tip: don’t watch alone!! So scary but GOOD!!"

A second person said: "Y’all should really go watch DON’T LISTEN aka VOCES on Netflix!! It’s a Spanish scary movie and that s*** had me jumping."

A third person added: "Watched Don't Listen aka Voces, the recent Spanish horror on Netflix earlier. It was a decent one, bags of atmosphere plus effective shock moments."

A fourth offered some further advice: "Just watched Spanish horror film Don't Listen aka Voces on Netflix. It's about a family moving into an old house, then weird stuff starts happening. This movie reminds me of Terrified on Shudder but different. If you don't mind the subtitles, it's worth a watch...in the dark."

In case this movie doesn't do it for you, there's another one that might be of interest that is leaving people feeling sick - which is what everyone likes to feel as they try to relax.

Fall revolves around Becky and Hunter, played by Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner respectively, who climb to the top of a 2,000-foot radio tower to scatter the ashes of Becky's deceased husband Dan who was an avid climber.

Naturally, it all goes wrong when they reach the peak of the tower and the ladder breaks, and their bag full of supplies falls out of reach... figures.

Those with a healthy fear of heights are being urged not to watch, even though the views and cinematography are pretty special.

A film that mainly takes place at the top of a tower comes with a strong narrative and some unexpected twists and turns - you just have to stomach the heights!
