It doesn't matter whether you're an a-list celebrity or an Average Joe, the loss of a pet can be devastating.
Now, Orlando Bloom has revealed that he and Katy Perry's missing dog has died in an emotional Instagram post, and we have all the feelings.
After Mighty went missing near Montecito, California, the Lord of the Rings star spent a week searching for the pooch, and sadly, he was not found alive.
Watch Orlando get a tribute tattoo for Mighty:

Orlando wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday: "Mighty's on the other side now. After 7 days of searching from sunrise to sunset and into the wee hours, today, the 7th day ~the number of completion~ we found his collar… I have wept more this week than I thought possible, which has been very cathartic and healing… I left no stone unturned, crawled thru all the man holes, under the roads, searched every back yard and creek bed [sic].
"Had two separate sniffer dogs do their best as well. I feel so grateful to have learned from my little Mighty man that love is eternal and the true meaning of devotion," he added.

Orlando continued: "I feel sure he was looking down on me whistling in every back yard and knowing that I was doing all I possibly could to respect our bond. He was more than a companion. It was a soul connection for sure. I'm sorry. I love you. Thank you. RIP my MIGHTY HEART my little fellow A 's. Thank you to the community for allowing me to search through their yards for him and supporting my midnight walks. It was reassuring to see the best of people even in the worst of times [sic]."
"To the angels of @dogdayssar I'm forever in your debt. You ladies are heaven sent. Lastly thank you to @scottcampbell for the ink. I love you brother."
Katy Perry, who is currently expecting the couple's first child, also took to social media to pay tribute to their missing pooch.
The 'California Gurls' singer tweeted: "We'll miss our little buddy boy, Nugget's brother so much. Forever a paw-shaped hole in our hearts #ripmighty."

On top of hunting for the couple's missing dog himself, Orlando had even enlisted the help of a pet detective and made a number of pleas on social media for people to help him find Mighty.

"Keep him safe bring him home let him be reunited with his family - has been my mantra from sunrise to sunset as I scour the creek beds, bushes and backyards and manholes in and around the neighborhood," Orlando told his followers yesterday.
He added: "I want to thank the local community for kindly allowing me to continue my search, whistling at all hour of the day/night. It's day 7 and he’ll need his tummy meds. My hope is that some kind soul who's unaware that he's missing is just taking care of a 'lost dog'…"
We'd like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere condolences to the couple.
