Paris Hilton has given her 22.3 million Instagram followers a first glimpse of her newborn son's face in an adorable photoshoot.
The 42-year-old DJ and socialite recently welcomed her first child via surrogate this year, making an official announcement on social media in January.
Many netizens were shocked as they had no idea that Hilton and her husband were expecting a baby.
This week, the 'Stars Are Blind' singer revealed on her iHeartRadio podcast that her son was named Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum, stating: "Phoenix has a few good pop culture reference points, but more importantly it's the bird that flames out and then rises from the ashes to fly again. I want my son to grow up knowing that disaster and triumph go around and come around throughout our lives. And that this should give us great hope for the future."
She also revealed that her son's middle name, Barron, was a tribute to her late grandfather, with whom she was incredibly close. "He was always my mentor. I looked up to my grandfather so much, and we were so close, and I miss him every day. So, I really wanted to honor him by having his name in my first son's name [...] So there you go. My beautiful baby boy's name is Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum."
Hilton also recently took part in a cover interview for Glamour UK, where she discussed her traumatic past, journey to motherhood, and even shared exclusive photos of her baby. She was open about her horrific experience at a ranch for troubled teens, revealing that she was held down and force-fed drugs after refusing to take them, as well as subjected to random late-night gynaecological examinations.
"This was something that I had blocked out from my memory, but after hearing the story from other survivors, I started having flashbacks. Late at night, staff members would come in and take certain girls and bring them into this room. And literally you would scream and cry, they would hold you down, four of them, men and women, and literally just be putting fingers… and just doing things on a regular basis to certain girls," she recalled.
"When I got out, I made a promise that I'm never going to talk about this again [...] I think that the reason they've got away with it for so long is because they instil that into the children, where you feel so ashamed - like you're this bad person when they're emotionally and psychologically torturing you to the point that you don't even know who you are any more. It's horrible that I held that shame in for so long," Hilton added. She has since released a documentary detailing the trauma and is now an activist for survivors of abuse.
As for whether she would have enlisted the help of a surrogate if she was younger, Hilton stated that she would still have given birth via surrogate even if she was 20. "I'm just so scared [...] But I want a family so bad, it's just the physical part of doing it. I'm just so scared… childbirth and death are the two things that scare me more than anything in the world."
