The upcoming Super Mario Bros movie has the internet talking - and it's not all good news.

The actor is the star of the upcoming computer-animated movie, based on the Nintendo video games about the two Italian brothers who live in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Much to fans' delight, the Illumination and Nintendo project boasts an all-star cast - including Pratt as the tubby Italian plumber, Charlie Day as his brother Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as the villain Bowser, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong.

After the trailer came out, however, many people had some concerns about Pratt's portrayal of Mario - namely, his voice-acting skills.

Watch the trailer below:

Now, it seems, fans have taken more issue with the upcoming flick, stating that Mario just looks like a mustached version of another animated character, Fix-It Felix, the hero handyman seen in Disney's animated movie Wreck-It Ralph.

One fan tweeted: "HE'S LITERALLY FIX IT FELIX WITH A MUSTACHE [sic]."

"The lack of Mario voice doesn't bug me as much as him just looking like Fix-It Felix with a mustache," another Twitter user wrote.

A third wrote: "Animation looks great, Jack Black sounds great, Mario looks like Fix-it Felix with a mustache and I’m not crazy about it. Chris Pratt sounds like Chris Pratt which doesn’t sound like Mario. They should have just let Charles Martinet do it. Just let voice actors voice act please."

Sharing a side-by-side comparisson, another Mario fan wrote: "I'm not the only who though of Fix-It Felix Jr with a mustache when I saw Mario, right? RIGHT?!"

As previously mentioned, the trailer had come under fire from video game fanatics for Pratt's choice of voice in the movie.

Gaming enthusiasts will all know Mario's quirky catchphrase: "Let's-a-go," which has been provided by voice actor Chris Martinet since 1992. However, as previously reported, viewers of the trailer were unhappy that Mario simply sounded like a regular ol' Chris Pratt, rather than the over-the-top Italian we've all come to know and love.

"Who would have thought that chris pratt's big secret voice in the mario movie would be his normal speaking voice [sic]," someone had tweeted.

"Chris Pratt as Mario is a prime example of why you should hire voice actors for voice acting roles because what the hell is this," another person added.

Another user praised the voice actor who dubbed the French version of the film, commenting: "French Mario brought it though."

Well, it looks like the movie is already the subject of criticism, despite not being ready to hit cinemas until April, 2023. I guess we will see how fans react upon its release!
