Netflix has brought us many an insane documentary over the years. The most recent of which is Tiger King. However, according to people on social media, it's got a rival in the form of How to Fix a Drug Scandal, which is apparently even crazier!
Watch the trailer for How to Fix a Drug Scandal below:The true-crime docuseries follows Sonja Farak, a lab technician, who worked in an Amherst lab testing evidence in drug cases, and because of this, she was frequently a witness in court.
She was a drug addict herself and abused various substances including meth, amphetamines, LSD, and other drugs while she was doing her job. Some she took from the controlled substances she was testing and others from the evidence boxes themselves.
But Farak is not the only person who comes under scrutiny in the documentary. So too does Annie Dookhan, a Massachusetts chemist. She worked in a Hinton drug lab in Boston, Dookhan around the same time as Farak and was also accused of tampering with evidence.
In the docuseries, viewers learn that she lied about testing evidence when she had failed to do so.
As a result of both women's actions, it is thought that thousands of sentences were wrongly handed out, and the series follows how such a scandal was even possible in the first place.
This is what social media users had to say about it.
One wrote: "Y'all thought tiger king was wild, watch how to fix a drug scandal on @netflix #howtofixadrugscandal #Netflix".
A second agreed: How to Fix a Drug Scandal on @Netflix is somehow crazier than Tiger King to me."
"Tiger King may be crazy, but have you seen How to Fix a Drug Scandal?! Motherf*cking insane!" a third wrote.
As a fourth remarked: "If you've finished Tiger King...go ahead and start 'How to fix a drug scandal' because WOW."
The new docuseries consists of four parts and dropped on Netflix on Wednesday.
It's directed by Erin Lee Carr and reveals the devastating effect that the women's actions had on 20,000 people, forcing them into a complex legal situation with no simple road out.
