Peter Kay has slammed Jimmy Savile for ruining the legacy of a charity music video the pair appeared in together.
The 49-year-old comedian is currently touring the country with his Better Late Than Never tour, for which he has already had to release more tickets due to popular demand, per Metro.
During his first stand-up tour in over a decade, Kay - who has starred, written, and produced numerous TV shows and specials - went on a trip down memory lane through his career.
While recalling his cameo in Tony Christie's '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo' music video, the comic blasted Saville - who was found to be one of Britain’s most prolific sex offenders following his death - for tarnishing his appearance.
Watch the music video below:Dragging the disgraced DJ - who died in 2011 at the age of 84 - Kay supposedly told the crowd at his comeback tour that the song was "very popular at kids' parties", as reported by Daily Star.
"Number one for seven weeks, biggest-selling song of that year, and now thanks to Jimmy Savile it’s on YouTube with a pedophile warning," he said.
He then slammed the singer and said: "Thanks for that Jimmy… dirty s***house," before adding, "I can’t believe that. He was in the video."
The infamous star wasn't the only celebrity in the music video - which was in aid of Comic Relief - with a host of stars including Brian May, Michael Parkinson, and Shakin' Stevens also appearing in the clip.
Following Savile's death and the subsequent allegations of sexual abuse, TV networks have aired a new version of the Amarillo video in which he has been edited out.
One fan on social media shared their comments on Kay's remarks and said that they were also devastated that the iconic charity video has been tainted by Savile.
"Watching the Peter Kay Amarillo sketch is always a joyful trip down memory lane until Jimmy Savile suddenly appears on your screen," they wrote.
The award-winning star launched his comeback tour this month in Manchester, with shows scheduled right through 2024.
As well as multiple shows in Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, and Glasgow, the beloved comedian will also play a monthly residency at London’s O2 Arena.
According to the Metro, the stand-up icon has been left overwhelmed by the response to his tour, describing his first set of gigs as "incredible" and "such a happy experience".
