A woman who went into labor during a recent Pink concert has named her newborn child after the singer.

On July 31, during Pink's Summer Carnival Tour stopped at Fenway Park in Boston, fan Angela Mercer delivered a grand slam. Well, at least she began to anyway.

Having traveled from Albany, New York for the gig in Red Sox territory, Mercer clearly had no intentions of giving birth to her son that night. However, life had other plans.

Instead of taking in the Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter's procession of bangers over a couple of hours, Mercer found herself having severe contractions not long after arriving at the iconic baseball stadium, where she was attending the show with her sister-in-law and her mother.

Mercer was 31 weeks pregnant at the time of the show according to Brigham and Women’s Hospital press release.

Immediately calling her doctor when the contractions started, Mercer was told she needed to go to the hospital. However, it wasn't as simple as that, with concert crowds and backed up traffic causing severe delays to all journeys.

The hospital report noted, “With all the traffic surrounding Fenway for the concert, Angela had trouble finding a ride to the hospital. She and her family decided the fastest way to get to Brigham and Women’s was to walk - and so, decked out in their concert outfits, they made the trek to our hospital where Angela later delivered her son in the Brigham’s NICU.

“While the family didn’t get to enjoy the concert, they say they received the greatest gift of all – a healthy baby boy.”

In tribute to the So What singer, Mercer named her son Aycen Hart, a reference to Pink taking her husband Carey Hart's surname. During an interview with CBS Boston, the new mother said, “The medical, case management, and social work staff guided us confidently with their knowledge and expertise, all while being personable, empathetic, and engaging. We are sincerely appreciative.”

Aycen is currently being looked after back in the NICU in Albany, although there are no "major concerns" about his health.

Pink's Summer Carnival Tour began back on June 7, with the curtain being brought down on her latest live touring extravaganza on November 19 for 2023 with a date at Orlando's Amway Center. However, the second leg of the tour then begins only a few months later, reigniting in February 2024 at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia. The final date is currently due to be at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville City Center, Australia.

Mercer's labor is not the most dramatic moment to even occur on Pink's current tour, either.

While Mercer celebrated becoming a mother, one gig-goer at Hyde Park in London celebrated her mother's life by, erm, throwing her ashes on-stage as Pink was performing.

The Get the Party Started star was, understandably, visibly disturbed by the incident, asking: "Is this your mom?" And when she received an affirmative reply, added: "I don't know how I feel about this".

Per News.com.au, Pink then placed the ashes behind the speakers at the front of the stage before continuing on with her 2002 smash hit Just Like a Pill.

So that's an (almost) birth and a sort of weird burial on one tour so far. What's next for Pink? A resurrection?
