Joe Biden has been declared "fit to serve" by his doctor after ongoing speculation about the president's health.

Kevin O'Connor, who is the physician to Biden, confirmed this after he was examined by him and a team of doctors.

In a report, which was published by the White House on Wednesday (February 28), O'Connor stated that "President Biden is a healthy, active, robust, 81-year-old male, who remains fit to execute the duties of the presidency, to include those as chief executive, head of state and commander in chief."

The physician stated Biden had undergone "an extremely detailed neurologic exam", which was "again reassuring" with no findings of cerebellar or neurologic disorders, such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson's disease.

Any ongoing medical issues such as seasonal allergies and sleep apnea, which the president receives treatment for, have been branded "stable" with no new medical issues detailed in the report.

"This patient's current medical considerations are detailed as above, and remain stable and well-controlled," it continued. "They include obstructive sleep apnea, a-fib with normal ventricular response, hyperlipidemia, gastroesophageal reflux, seasonal allergies, spinal arthritis, and sensory peripheral neuropathy of the feet.

"For these, he takes three common prescription medications and three common over-the-counter medications," it concluded.

Prior to the appointment, which took place at a hospital in Maryland on Wednesday, Biden was seen leaving his residence wearing a suit before later re-appearing and telling reporters that everything is well with his health, just like it was last year.

"There is nothing different than last year. Everything is great," he said, as per the Guardian.

It comes after speculation around the current president's health has been ongoing ever since it was announced that he would be running for the leadership position again as the oldest president in US history.

In January while commemorating the third anniversary of the deadly January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, Biden gave a speech in which he criticized his rival Donald Trump - who is also a candidate in the running this year - stating that the former President of the United States did not care about America or democracy.

"Today we're here to answer the most important of questions. Is democracy still America's sacred cause? I mean it," he said in his speech. "This is not rhetorical, academic, or hypothetical. Whether democracy is still America's sacred cause is the most urgent question of our time. That's what the 2024 election is all about.

"These MAGA voices who know the truth about Trump on January 6 have abandoned the truth and abandoned democracy," he continued. "They made their choice. Now the rest of us, Democrats, independents, mainstream Republicans, need to make our choice."

Elsewhere, he also slammed Trump's campaign saying: "Donald Trump's campaign is about him. Not America, not you. Donald Trump's campaign is obsessed with the past. Not the future. He's willing to sacrifice our democracy to put himself in power.

"Trump is running as the denier-in-chief, the election denier-in-chief. Once again, he's saying he won't honor the results of the election if he loses... He still doesn't understand the basic truth and that is you can't love your country only when you win," he added.

The 2024 presidential election is scheduled for November 5.
