Prince Harry has said that Meghan Markle's "compassion" and "warmth" resembles his late mother Princess Diana in their new Netflix documentary.

On November 8, the streaming giant released the first three episodes of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's "unprecedented" and highly anticipated documentary titled Harry and Meghan.

The first episode opened with a disclaimer message, letting viewers know that it is a "first-hand account of Harry and Meghan's story" with never-before-seen footage. They also wrote that the Royal Family "declined to comment on the content" in this series.

In one key section of the docu-series so far, the 38-year-old royal and the 41-year-old Suits alum spoke about their respective childhoods, before Harry compared the way his wife handles herself to his late mother.

The Duke first admitted in the episode that he doesn't have "many early memories" of the late Princess of Wales, saying that it was "almost like internally I sort of blocked them out".

"But I'll always remember her laugh, her cheeky laugh. Her saying to me, if you get in trouble, don't get caught. And I'll always be that cheeky person inside. The majority of my memories are being swarmed by paparazzi," he revealed.

Harry later compared Meghan to Diana, explaining: "So much of what Meghan is, how she is, is so similar to my mom. She has the same compassion, she has the same empathy, she has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her."

During the clip - in which Harry repeatedly denounced the media for "harassing" him his entire life - he also voiced his concerns about the former actress.

The prince admitted he worried that Meghan was going to suffer the same fate as Diana, who died in a car accident while being chased by paparazzi in 1997, divulging: "I was terrified of her being driven away by the media."

It’s not the first time that the royal has brought up the similarities between his mother and his wife. On the AppleTV+ series The Me You Can’t See, Harry said that his "biggest regret is not making more of a stance earlier on in my relationship with my wife and calling out the racism when I did."

"History was repeating itself. My mother was chased to her death while she was in a relationship with someone that wasn’t white, and now look what’s happened," he continued. "You want to talk about history repeating itself - they’re not going to stop until [Meghan] dies."

"It’s incredibly triggering to potentially lose another woman in my life, but the list is growing. And it all comes back to the same people, the same business model, the same industry," Harry added.

Both women struggled with life in the royal family and contemplated taking their own lives. According to Andrew Morton’s book, Diana: Her True Story - in Her Own Words, the former Princess attempted to harm herself on five different occasions.

Also, in her 2021 bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan opened up about her mental health and suicidal thoughts before exiting the royal family and moving to the United States with her husband in 2020.

"I just didn’t want to be alive anymore," she emotionally revealed. "Look, I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, because I know how much loss he has suffered, but I knew that if I didn’t say it, then I would do it. I just didn’t want to be alive anymore."

The docuseries will air in two volumes with the first three episodes out now. Netflix will then release the remaining three episodes a week later, on December 15.
