Ron Selig - star of Outback Opal Hunters - has died aged 66 following a freak workplace accident.
Outback Opal Hunters was launched in 2018 by the Discovery Channel, and it follows the adventures of opal miners in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia.
The show became a hit around the world including in the US and UK while also airing in over 100 countries around the world.
Sadly, Selig - a star of the show - has passed away following a freak accident after he fell 19 ft from a workshop following a sheet of iron roofing giving way in remote Queensland, per the Daily Mail.
Selig resided on the Sunshine Coast but would work in the mines of the small town of Opalton in the outback. He was a popular figure on the show and many have been left shocked by his sudden death.
As reported by 7 News, the accident occurred on November 26 last year, and the star's passing was confirmed in early January following a post by the show's social media accounts.
The statement read: "We are saddened to inform that Ron Selig has passed away. Ron was a much loved member of the Outback Opal Hunters Family. A great character and amazing Opal Hunter, always chasing that colour. We will always fondly remember Ron."
In the comments of the post, Selig's daughter posted a heartfelt tribute to her father while also thanking fans for their support.
"The passing and the loss of our Father Ron, has been the most challenging time for me and our whole Family," she wrote. "Ron was the most amazing, sensational Son, Father, Grandfather and friend to all. Dad was a kind, caring and a fun loving man, who always would come out with the funniest jokes!
"Thanks again for your loving kindness and condolences to Ron Selig! He was definitely one of a kind, we shall dearly miss our Dad/Grandfather-Ron."

As cited by 7 News, Resources Safety and Health Queensland said: "The incident is still under investigation. It is understood the worker accessed the roof of the workshop to make repairs following damage caused by a severe weather event when a structural member failed, causing the worker to fall approximately 5.8m to the ground."
Our thoughts are with Selig's friends, family, and fans.
