Chrissy Teigen bravely took to social media last week to share the news that she had suffered a miscarriage after experiencing pregnancy complications.

In a statement posted to social media, she and husband John Legend wrote: "We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before.
"We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn't enough."
The couple, who are parents to two children, Luna and Miles, said that they called the baby Jack.
However, despite this immense display of bravery, Teigen's decision to talk candidly about her miscarriage did attract some criticism, including from Republican candidate Congress, Errol Webber.
A vocal anti-abortion supporter, instead of offering his sympathy to Teigen and Legend, Webber wrote on social media that he hoped that the loss would help them "reevaluate their thoughts on abortion".

Webber was then subject to a barrage of criticism on social media for his remarks.
One person wrote: "I hope you reevaluate your personal lack of empathy and why THIS is your reaction to someone who is experiencing tremendous grief right now. Beyond disgusting."

A second remarked: "This is a disgusting comment to make to anyone during their time of loss."

A third added: "This was highly unnecessary and extremely insensitive and that's putting it lightly. Why have human beings become so desensitized to the pain of others? Disappointing."

Meanwhile, one person took the opportunity to emphasize to Webber that abortion and miscarriage are two different things entirely.
One Twitter user wrote: "2 very different situations, please go back to high school and take Biology again because clearly you failed dismally [sic]."

A second added: "Last time I checked, miscarriage isn't a choice."

More generally, people were disappointed that Webber used Teigen's loss as an opportunity to push an agenda instead of allowing the 34-year-old to grieve as she sees fit.
A Twitter user wrote: "Using someone's miscarriage to push an agenda is disgusting."

This comes after Kate Beckinsale slammed those criticizing Chrissy Teigen over her miscarriage photos.
