Ricki Lake has taken to Instagram to share a positive update about her battle with androgenetic alopecia.
The 53-year-old Hairspray actress shared her one-year transformation by revealing a snapshot of her with a shaved head that was taken on December 31, 2019, and another picture of her with a thick head of hair was taken on January 27, 2021.
Flaunting her stunning one-year hair transformation, Lake credited her hair care products, writing: "For those of you who don’t know or don't remember my personal journey. These side by sides show the dramatic success I’ve had using @harklinikken products."
"I’ve been following their simple and easy protocol for over 2 years now. People ask all the time, I use their shampoo, condition daily and their extract at night," she explained.
Check out her pictures below:Lake has always been vocal about suffering hair loss due to androgenetic alopecia for most of her life. In 2020, the actress disclosed in an Instagram post that she started having hair loss after playing Tracy Turnblad in the original 1988 Hairspray.
The TV host said that by sharing her "truth", she hopes that it will "strike a chord" with other people that suffer from the same condition.
After sharing her update on August 10, many users on the social media platform showered Lake with praise for being so courageous and honest in her hair journey.
One user wrote: "Gorgeous! Thank you for being brave enough to share [your] journey!"
Another commented: "Your story is resounding, but it’s your joy I see the most. With hair and love."

At the end of last year, the mother-of-two told her Instagram followers that she has learned a lot about herself since announcing her battle with alopecia two years prior.
"2 years ago today I took a leap of faith. I finally surrendered and came out about my decades-long struggle with hair loss (and shaved my head)," the actress wrote.
"It was so scary and so liberating. The journey since has been such a gift. Self-love and acceptance has been the great takeaway. And 2 years later, I sit in total gratitude for the journey," Lake added.
She went on to thank her friends, family, and role models for being her support system and helping her "love myself exactly as I am".
