Robert Downey Jr. has given fans a rare glimpse of his life as a father while celebrating his 58th birthday.
On Tuesday (April 4), the 58-year-old Iron Man actor marked his new birth year by posting a sweet video on Instagram of the highlights of his past year.
The montage included surprising footage of his children: 29-year-old son Indio, who he shares with his first wife Deborah Falconer, and his two younger children - son Exton, 11, and daughter Avri, eight - with his current wife Susan Downey.
Downey Jr. captioned his birthday video: "57 you've been too kind / with deep gratitude I shall rewind.." and it opened with him looking delighted as his family sang Happy Birthday, while Indio presented him with a cake with two tiers of candles.
Watch the birthday video below:It then looked back on the Tropic Thunder actor's experience filming Christopher Nolan's forthcoming film Oppenheimer, in which he will be starring as Lewis Strauss - the man who was involved in the invention of the bomb and the push to create the more powerful hydrogen bomb.
"Thanks to the Nolans we are of one accord," he captioned one photo, adding another beaming snap of himself as he thanked "Hugh Herr and the MIT bionics board".
The Marvel actor even shared some heartwarming clips of him attending Exton's baseball games as well as his two youngest kids shaving his "dome" for his role in the upcoming miniseries, The Sympathizer.
Near the end of his video was a charming picture of Downey resting his head on his wife Susan Downey's lap as she looked down at him with the gushing caption: "And the sweet 17 of marriage - sublime!"
He then concluded the montage with a clip of himself making a funny face while bouncing on a toy inflatable horse, writing: "After all these blessings I simply must say I hope I NEVER grow up one day."
Downey posted a video of his children - who are rarely photographed or filmed - to the social media platform last October.
The father-of-three needed the help of Avri and Exton to shave his head for the multiple roles he will play in the seven-episode series - which is based on Viet Thanh Nguyen's Pulitzer Prize-winning book.
"Sorry to interrupt but I need your help," Downey Jr. began the video as he entered a room where his daughter and son were carving pumpkins. "You know how I'm starting this project soon?"
"Yeah, The Sympathizer?", Avri said, to which Exton added, "Yeah, you're playing like five roles or something."
"Right. Well anyway, I don't want to wear a bald cap, so will you guys shave my head?", he continued to ask his children, who look up in bewilderment.
"Is that even appropriate?" Avri questioned with a smirk before she and her brother took turns in shaving their famous dad's head.
After fully shaving his head, Downey Jr. showed off his new bald look and said: "Great job guys. I'll let you get back to your pumpkin carving but what do I owe ya?"
