Actress and prominent women's rights advocate Rose McGowan has accused comedian and HBO host Bill Maher of using offensive and sexually suggestive language during her appearance on his show in the 1990s.

McGowan, who has become a central figure in the campaign against sexual violence in Hollywood, recounted her experience on Twitter, detailing an encounter that allegedly took place on the set of Maher’s previous show Politically Incorrect.

In the Tweet, McGowan described how she had been featured as a guest on the show, before:

@BillMaher Here’s a memory I’d like to share with you. I bet you don’t remember, but I sure do. I was so excited to be on your show & get to flex my mind instead of my face. Here’s what happened. All I can say, Bill, you got the face you deserved.”

McGowan went on to add:

“I was on your show Politically Correct in the late 90s - as the show returned from a commercial break, you leaned over to me & [sic] whispered in my hear, 'my parents didn't give me a good face, but they did give me a huge c**k.’

"I could feel your hot breath on my ear as an image of both your hideous face & alleged big c**k flashed in my mind. Both turned my stomach. I've always wondered what you say & do to the girls that aren't famous."

McGowan’s accusation was made in the aftermath of an episode of Maher’s popular show Real Time, in which the host discussed recent allegations of sexual assault against Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden by his former staffer Tara Reade.

During the show, Maher declared, "What the f***? We're letting this person [Reade] change the subject from Donald Trump, lethal incompetent, to Joe Biden, sex monster?"

Maher is yet to respond to McGowan’s claims.
