Ryan Reynolds has recently joined the microblogging site, Tumblr, as the once-popular platform slowly makes a comeback.
The 46-year-old actor wrote in his first post: "Oh hello Tumblr," before including a Deadpool GIF emblazoned with text that read: "Oh no, finish posting your Ryan Reynolds fanfiction [...] There you go, reblog it."
Since he posted it on November 3, it has received over 40,000 notes, which is the total number of likes, reblogs, and replies a post receives. In the days since, Reynolds - who goes by the handle @vancityreynolds - has posted several more random GIFs of himself.
Though, as Mashable points out, this newsworthy move might have been a little more strategic than we think, as Reynolds is currently promoting his latest Apple TV flick with Will Ferrel, Spirited - which is set to be a musical version of the Charles Dickens classic about a miserable grouch who embarks on a magical journey.
The father-of-four even posted a GIF from the movie on his new Tumblr account with the accompanying hashtags #spirited, #dickens, #dinosaurs, #showerthoughts, and #astronomy - just like a true Tumblr user.
In other social media-related news, a host of celebrities have chosen to leave Twitter in the past week, following Tesla CEO Elon Musk's highly controversial $44 billion takeover - including Whoopi Goldberg, Shonda Rhimes, Sara Bareilles, and Toni Braxton.
"I'm shocked and appalled at some of the 'free speech' I've seen on this platform since its acquisition. Hate speech under the veil of 'free speech' is unacceptable; therefore I am choosing to stay off Twitter as it is no longer a safe space for myself, my sons and other [people of color]," Braxton tweeted.
Many more people have chosen to remove themselves from the platform, especially after Musk's eyebrow-raising proposed changes to the site.
These have included making himself the company's sole director, the historic move to lay off over 3,700 Twitter employees (roughly 50% of the company's workforce), and the introduction of Twitter Blue (a $7.99-a-month subscription plan allowing users to pay for blue checkmarks).
Musk - a self-declared "free speech absolutist" - has publicly promoted his desire for Twitter to remain a platform focused on freedom of speech.
The 51-year-old has suspended the accounts of comedian Kathy Griffin, YouTuber Ethan Klein, and actor Rich Sommer for impersonating him by changing their Twitter names to "Elon Musk" and changing their profile pictures to images of him, NBC News detailed.
Sommer - who is best known for his role on Mad Men - told NBC News following his suspension: "I'm not mad at them for suspending me. I broke the rules.
"But if people genuinely thought I was Elon Musk with '@richsommer' right there at the top of each tweet, imagine how difficult it will be to discern the veracity of anyone's identity once they sell a blue check to anyone with eight bucks."
"If Twitter merely recommits to actually verifying the identity of users before offering them, you know, verification, then it will be a slightly (barely) safer place," he added.
