Sam Asghari has revealed why he won't be speaking negatively about his ex-wife Britney Spears.
Months after announcing his divorce, Asghari has finally addressed his current status with the former pop princess following ongoing speculation about the pair.
The couple initially met back in 2016 when the 30-year-old personal trainer earned himself a spot as a performer in the singer's 'Slumber Party' music video. From a professional relationship, the two entertainers quickly moved to a more intimate one after getting to know each other.
Things got pretty serious after the pair started dating, and eventually, they settled down and tied the knot in June 2022 in an intimate ceremony at their residence in Los Angeles.
However, in August last year, they decided to go their separate ways with Asghari citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind the split.
Despite things initially being a little messy with the two going back and forth in the press, it seems as though they've managed to bury the hatchet and just appreciate what they used to have.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Asghari revealed that he will never speak negatively about his former lover, even despite their separation.
"It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on," he stated. "I've always hated people leaving a certain relationship — and at some point they told each other they love each other and they sat at the same table and ate food [together] — so I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other.
"That's something I'm never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that's always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life," he added.
Instead of hating on his ex, he is spending time focussing on his future.
"I used to think people that were 30 years old were so old when I was in high school. But every person I talk to, the older they get, the more they get to enjoy life because with age comes wisdom and experiences," he told the outlet. "And I think experiences in life are beautiful, so that's something that I'm just super excited to just be fulfilled with."
Not only is he looking forward to what life may bring, but he's also happy to celebrate the past.
"I always have the most positive mindset about life. My experiences in life have shaped me into the man I am today. I will continue growing. I come from a place where we celebrate our past," he said. "I look back fondly. My past was a blessing and beautiful."
