Sam Smith was overcome with emotion during the opening night of their world tour.
The 'Like I Can' singer kicked off their highly-anticipated Gloria tour in Sheffield, UK, where they broke down in tears while they gave a speech to the fans in attendance.
As per Yorkshire Live, after performing some of their greatest hits including 'Stay With Me' and 'I'm Not The Only One', the 30-year-old turned to their audience and said: "Seeing all of you to look at is a joy. Welcome to the Gloria tour. It has been so, so long since I have been on a stage like this. It's been five years and a lot has happened."
Smith's voice then started cracking as they continued: "I just want to say," before they were completely overcome with emotion. "Thank you so much for being with me through these crazy times, it means the world to me. As long as you are happy, I will sing for you every night."
"Thank you for being here," they said to thousands of screaming fans. "Tonight is my chance to give as much energy to you to give you a good time. This show is about love and a show about freedom. It is so important to me that you all look to your left and right and say hello to everyone near you.
Smith then added that the venue was a "safe space" for all of the audience.
"This is a safe space and you can do whatever you want. I want you to have fun, and nothing can go wrong. I love you all. Thank you for being here," they added.
Not only was the first concert of the tour an emotional one, it was also extremely extravagant - as you would expect it to be. The night was broken down into three segments: Love, Beauty and Sex and also featured Cat Burns as the opening act before they came on.
The singer certainly made a statement with their fashion choices throughout the entire night, taking to the stage wearing an array of bold outfits.
One particular look that grabbed people's attention was an all-black ensemble with red and gold detailing. Alongside the corset and puffy sleeves, they also completed the devilish look with fishnets, knee-high boots, a top hat that had multiple red devil horns sticking out of it as well as a diamante-encrusted pitchfork.
Other unique (and very risqué) costumes involved latex briefs, along with a long veil that trailed back - again playing on this religious-core kind of vibe while performing a cover of Madonna's hit 'Human Nature.'
Elsewhere during the opening night, Smith opted for more vibrant colors, giving those in attendance a look at the extravagant pink ruffled tulle gown they wore in their 'I'm Not Here To Make Friends' music video.
The 30-year-old was also seen rocking another similar gown, but this time in emerald green.
Smith is set to perform two dates at London's O2 Arena next week before embarking across Europe for the rest of their Gloria tour.
