Sarah Ferguson says marrying Prince Andrew was a "fairy-tale" that made her feel like "the luckiest girl in the world".
The Duchess opened up about her relationship with the Prince on an Italian talk show Porta a Porta this week.
Promoting her new book, Her Heart for a Compass, Fergie touched on how her ill-fated romance with the Queen's son is actually something she cherishes to this day, despite the pair's divorce.
When asked about the happiest time in her life, Ferguson said that it was "3rd July 1986, when I married the best man in the world," she said per Daily Mail.
She went on to reflect on her wedding day, saying: "I was the luckiest girl in the world. It was truly a fairy-tale because I was marrying a prince."
"First of all, I was marrying a man, then I was marrying a naval officer, and then I was marrying a prince and he was very good looking, a handsome prince from all the fairy tales, he even had the sword," the 62-year-old author added.
Ferguson and Prince Andrew share two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Despite her glowing memories of their wedding, the royal couple divorced in 1996 after 10 years of marriage. However, they remain closer than ever and continue to live together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.
During the interview, Ferguson spoke fondly about her ex-husband.
"He is such a kind, great man, he is a brilliant father and now a fantastic grandfather. I believe that the love I have for him and he has for me is just very different from what normal people have. We have great respect and love for each other."
"It really is our own fairy tale and it's our own lives, how we like to be, with total respect and honor to each other," she added.
She went on to confirm that she is standing by the Prince amid accusations that he sexually assaulted an underage woman and was involved in now-deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking.
"I completely stand by Andrew 100%," she told the talk show host. "I feel very strongly that in this day and age that we must stand by our hearts, what we think is right with integrity and honor and loyalty."
