Sarah Jessica Parker has opened up about her thoughts on aging in the public eye and why she wouldn't want to go under the knife, despite thinking about it.

The actress, 58, appeared on the Howard Stern Show, where she spoke about her own body image after discussing a note from Steve Martin early on in her career where he told her she was "really beautiful" and capable of being a leading lady when she was cast in L.A. Story.

When asked whether she sees a "good-looking human being" when she looks in the mirror, she admitted: "I mean I'm presentable...I don’t really like looking at myself, I never have. I like a fitting and getting into costume. I don't know, I think I'm fine."

The talk soon turned to whether she would ever get plastic surgery, to which the Sex And The City star admitted she's scared to change herself drastically, having "missed out" on the window to having a subtle face lift.

When asked if she ever considered Botox, fillers, or surgery, Sarah revealed: "I think about all of it. I ask people all the time, is it too late?"

She joked: "Now, people would be like 'You don't only look rested, you look like an entirely different human being!'"

When asked if she ever felt she "needed" cosmetic surgery, Sarah responded with a firm "no", preferring to go for non-surgical treatments instead, such as peels and lasers.

"I'll do any of that stuff," she admitted, before adding: "I honestly think I missed out on the facelift, the old-fashioned good one that you have when you’re 44."

Sarah admitted she'd "heard some stories" about what face lifts could really be like, adding: "But I do understand why people make the choice, because there is so much emphasis put on especially women and primarily women about looks."

She revealed that she had borne the brunt of it when the SATC reboot series And Just Like That first aired last year, noting that there was significant focus on aging gracefully and her supposedly gray hair.

"First of all it's not, but who cares," she declared, adding: "I’m sitting next to Andy Cohen, whose head is covered in gray hair, and you’ve not mentioned that at all.

"So I understand why women feel like there is just so much chatter, peripheral opinions. I don't think it's wrong. I think people should do whatever they feel makes them feel better walking out the door, frankly."

Set 11 years after the events of Sex and the City 2, the series And Just Like That… depicts the journey of three (out of the original four) women navigating the nuanced realities of life and friendship in their 50s. While Kim Cattrall's absence as Samantha Jones has been a hot topic, the exciting news is that she is officially slated for a cameo in the second season finale, promising fans a delightful blast from the past.
