Sarah Paulson has revealed that she helped Pedro Pascal out financially when he was struggling to land acting roles at the start of his career.

The 48-year-old actress has been friends with HBO's The Last of Us star for 30 years now after he came to New York City as a student at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1993, as reported by Variety.

The Ratched actress appeared in many TV shows during the early 2000s, before ultimately catapulting to fame with the American Horror Story franchise in 2012.

Meanwhile, the 48-year-old actor found stardom in Hollywood more recently, after his break-out role as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones and as Javier Peña in Narcos.

The Chilean-born star moved to Los Angeles to try and make it as an actor after college. He was offered smaller cameo roles on shows like Touched by an Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Undressed, however, he didn't earn enough to pay his bills so he moved back to NYC and tried again in 2000.

Now, in a recent interview with Esquire, Paulson opened up about why she wanted her close pal to succeed and shared that she would give him the cash to "feed himself" before he became a sensation within the industry.

"He’s talked about this publicly, but there were times when I would give him my per diem from a job I was working on so that he could have money to feed himself," she told the outlet.

The actor also spoke about that specific period of his life and believed that his career would be "over" if he didn't achieve major success by the time he was 29.

"I died so many deaths," he said. "My vision of it was that if I didn’t have some major exposure by the time I was 29 years old, it was over, so I was constantly readjusting what it meant to commit my life to this profession, and giving up the idea of it looking like I thought it would when I was a kid. There were so many good reasons to let that delusion go."

The Ocean's 8 star has rejoiced over the fact that nowadays "everybody wants a piece" of Pascal as he is the lead of two successful TV shows: The Last of Us and Disney’s The Mandalorian.

He will also star alongside Ethan Hawke in a highly-anticipated Pedro Almodóvar-directed short film, Strange Way of Life, which is set to have a world premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival next month.

"You just want him to succeed," Paulson said. "And that to me, I feel like, is the sign of a major movie star. I’m ready for him to take the reins from the guys from romantic comedies past, like Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson and all these guys. He can be all that. Let’s remake 'Die Hard' with Pedro. Remake all the 'Lethal Weapon' movies with Pedro."

Continuing to share awe that her companion has become a household name, Paulson added: "He’s a part of some spectacularly successful things. But sometimes in those situations, the show is the superstar. It’s really exciting to see that he is the thing that is becoming the superstar out of this."
