Actor Seth Rogan has hit back at social media users replying to his support of Black Lives Matter with "all lives matter" - by telling them to "f*** off" and unfollow him.

His response comes as mass demonstrations have erupted across the US and other major cities around the globe.

These protests - some peaceful, some violent - are calling out the systemic injustices carried out against black people, not least seen by the recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.

They are also demanding an end to police brutality and the racism that is so deeply entrenched in America and the western world.

The message is simple: Black lives matter.

Yesterday, many brands, celebrities, artists, and social media users took part in 'Blackout Tuesday' - a day that asked people to cease promoting themselves or their products on social media, and instead promote ways in which people could help support the Black Lives Matter movement and the black community.

To mark the occasion, Rogan, 38, shared a bright yellow square with the words "Black Lives Matter" written inside to his 8.2 million Instagram followers.

The Canadian actor accompanied the image with the caption: "If this is a remotely controversial statement to you, feel free to unfollow me."

However, rather than unfollow, Rogan started to receive comments from people who were opposed to his view, writing "all lives matter" in the comments section.

But rather than stay silent on the issue, Rogan decided to reply to as many of the negative comments as possible - and he didn't mince his words:

Showing their support on Twitter, many of Rogan's fans applauded the Knocked Up star's own brand of social justice:

Even Queer Eye star Karamo Brown touted his support for Rogan, writing: "Yo! @Sethrogen is now and forever will be the homie in my head... for life! This"

Recently, Billie Eilish also shut down people continuing to comment "all lives matter', and even included some helpful analogies in her post.

The 18-year-old chart-topper wrote:

"If I hear one more white person say "aLL liVeS maTtEr" one more f**king time I’m gonna lose my f**king mind.

"Will you shut the f**k uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup???? No one is saying your life doesn’t matter. No one is saying your life is not hard.

"No one is saying literally anything at all about you…. all you mfs do is find a way to make everything about yourself. This is not about you. Stop making everything about you. You are not in need. You are not in danger."

The American singer then used a series of analogies to argue her point, saying: "I’m gonna try to explain this as if you were a child because it feels like that’s the only way you MFs will understand." She added:

"If your friend gets a cut on their arm, are you gonna wait to give all your friends a BandAid first, because all arms matter? No, you’re gonna help your friend because they are in pain because they are in need because they are bleeding!

"If someone’s house was on fire and someone is stuck in the house, are you gonna make the fire department go to every other house on the block first because all houses matter? No! Because they don’t f***ing need it."

Elish then explained about White Privilege and the fact that society does and had always benefited white people over people of color. She continued:

"You are privileged whether you like it or not. Society gives you privilege just for being white. You can be poor, you can be struggling, and still your skin color is giving you more privilege than you even realize. And nobody is saying that makes you better than anyone. It just lets you live your life without having to worry about surviving simply because of your skin color! You are privileged!

"If all lives matter why are black people killed for just being black? Why are immigrants persecuted? Why are white people given opportunities that people of other races aren’t? Why is it okay for white people to protest literally being asked to stay at home while carrying semi-automatic weapons? Why is it okay for black people to be called thugs for protesting the murder of innocent people? Do you know why? White. F***ing. Privilege.

"Does white privilege affect Hispanic people? Native Americans? Asian People? Yes for f***ing sure it does. 100000000000000%. But right now right in this moment… We have to address hundreds of years of oppression of black people."

Eilish concluded by saying:

"The slogan of #BlackLivesMatter does not mean other lives don’t. It’s calling attention to the fact that society clearly thinks black lives don’t f***ing matter! And they f***ing do! It means black lives f***ing matter. Black lives matter. Black lives matter. Black lives matter. Say it again. #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd."
