Shaquil Barrett's wife Jordanna has found a way to immortalize her toddler who tragically passed away by drowning.
On April 30, it was reported that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker and his wife Jordanna Barrett suffered a tragedy after their two-year-old daughter, Arrayah, drowned in their pool.
According to a statement obtained by ESPN, officers from the Tampa Police Department arrived at the family's residence just before 9:30 AM ET after receiving a call that a child had fallen into a pool.
The child was then transported to a nearby hospital, but even with lifesaving measures, she was heartbreakingly pronounced dead a short time after arrival.
Law enforcement is still investigating the matter, even though the death is not being treated as suspicious. They stated in a follow-up message: "It is not believed to be suspicious in nature at this time, but a purely accidental and tragic incident."
After the heartbreaking news hit social media, a spokesperson of the 30-year-old's team took to Twitter to release a statement on behalf of the NFL club.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna, and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time," it continued.
"While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah," they added.
Arrayah was the couple's youngest child. The two are also parents to Shaquil Jr., 11, Braylon, nine, and Aaliyah, eight.
In the wake of the tragedy, Jordanna has specially honored her late daughter. She took to her Instagram Story to reveal her tattoo dedicated to her baby girl on her inner wrist.
The ink displayed her name, Arrayah Sunshine, along with a pair of angel wings and a halo, all in black ink. According to People, the mother also wrote in her story: "I miss you so much, my girl. My heart is so shattered."
The tattoo comes after Jordanna spoke out about the couple's painful loss on her Instagram. She expressed gratitude to everyone who had reached out to the family during this unimaginable time.
"Thank you all for all the messages, flowers, thoughts and prayers. Our world will never be the same," the grieving mother wrote. "Arrayah was the apple of my eye, and my heart will forever be with hers."
"I love you so much, my baby. I am so, so sorry. Until we see each other again, please watch over your siblings and momma and dada," she continued. "We love you forever and ever and always. I can't wait to see that precious smile again, and just hug you so close."
"I wish we had more time. I love you. I would do absolutely anything. There is no Barrett 6 without you, and we will forever hold your place down here, until we all meet again in heaven. I love you forever and always," she concluded, adding a link to her daughter's obituary.
On May 8, the bereaved mom shared a series of memorable pictures and videos of her toddler and wrote in the caption: "One more anything. I wish I could go back and change time. I wish I could hold you so close."
"I just miss you my Arrayah girl. I just miss you. I love you forever. And am counting down the days until I get to be with you again! Memories will never be enough."
"But thank you for the best 2 years of our lives. Your smile and laugh will forever be engraved in me. You are the sunshine to my days, and the beats to my heart," she continued. "The world was a better place because you were in it. I love you forever and always and miss every big and little thing about you. Please stay close, momma needs you."
Our thoughts continue to be with Barrett's family and friends at this devastating time.
