The Simpsons are back at it again with their apparent predictions - this time involving the recent outrage over Michaelangelo's David in Florida.

For those unaware of recent events, here's a breakdown of what happened in Florida this month...

Tallahassee Classical School Principal Hope Carrasquilla was forced to resign after less than a year on the job during an emergency board meeting this week.

As it turned out, many parents at the school were outraged over the fact that Carrasquilla had shown her sixth-grade class an image of 'David', a sculpture by Michelangelo, one of the most renowned artists of the Renaissance.

Between 1501 to 1504 Michelangelo carved the marble sculpture, which has since become one of the most renowned pieces of art in history. It is displayed at the Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze in Florence, Italy.

Several parents eventually launched a complaint against the Principal, who was given the choice to resign or be formally dismissed - either way, she had to leave her position. However, the school's board chair Barney Bishop has not disclosed the reason for Carrasquilla's dismissal - though, she believes it is related to her art lesson involving Michelangelo's 'David'.

Carrasquilla said in a recent statement (via the Tallahassee Democrat) that Bishop had "expressed his displeasure with my leadership when parents became upset about policies or procedures not being followed to the T. He was more concerned about litigation and appeasing a small minority of parents, rather than trusting my expertise as an educator for more than 25 years."

Now, as always, the internet seems to have unearthed an old episode of The Simpsons where this very incident was predicted.

The episode in question is from 1990's season two, titled 'Itchy & Scratchy & Marge'. The storyline follows Marge Simpson as she is approached by a group who have successfully campaigned to censor the fictional TV cartoon Itchy & Scratchy over its depictions of violence.

The group then urges Marge to join them in trying to get an exhibition showing Michelangelo's 'David' censored as well.

In the episode, the protestors deem the sculpture an "abomination" and "filth," with one woman telling Marge: "It graphically portrays parts of the human body, which practical as they may be, are evil."

Netizens have pounced on the Carrasquilla's story, unearthing the episode and declaring that The Simpsons have once again predicted another event.

One person took to Twitter and wrote: "Simpsons did it! Simpsons did it!"

"Yet another time when the Simpsons predicted a real life event," someone else added.

Another added: "I mean there was an episode of The Simpsons that covered this [...] Marge realized banning things was foolish when trying to cancel Itchy and Scratchy escalated to puritans in Springfield wanting to cancel Michelangelo's David - will @GovRonDeSantis learn the moral of the story?"

And a fourth tweeted: "The episode ends with the show deploying the "slippery slope" argument against censorship when the town tries to ban Michelangelo's David. Florida in 2023 somehow managing to turn a silly joke in The Simpsons into reality."

What do you think? Is The Simpsons a product of genius psychic ability, or just a coincidence? Let us know in the comments!
