The coach of an Australian Olympic swimmer has gone viral this week for his incredibly enthusiastic celebration.
Per The Guardian, coach Dean Boxall could be seen literally gyrating with pleasure after Ariarne Titmus managed to win herself a gold medal in the final of the women’s 400m freestyle on Monday, July 26.
Boxall cavorted with open excitement when his protege beat US star Katie Ledecky. His reaction of pumping the air, ripping his mask off, and thrusting his hips against the handrail facing the pool has since made many people smile.
When footage of Boxall's display of revelry emerged on social media, Twitter users were clearly tickled by his over-the-top reaction, and have retweeted their own thoughts on how the victory made them feel.
One Twitter user wrote: "That's what you call unbridled Joy. Congrats! [sic]"
Another then chimed in: "Best Olympic Coach Reaction needs to be a special medal."
This agreed, writing: "This made my heart feel so much joy!!! I felt this!!!!! Best coach reaction I think in the history of any competition!!!!!! [sic]"
A fourth penned: "If my coach doesn't react like this when I have a big win then i don't want it. [sic]"
While a fifth added: "The Dean Boxall moment was almost designed to go viral. [I've] never heard of him before but pretty confident he’ll now never have to buy himself a beer ever again. how good #Tokyo2020 [sic]"
Someone else agreed, stating: "Just want to watch a video of Australia swim coach Dean Boxall losing his mind, while a somewhat terrified #Olympics staffer tries to calm/redirect him, on a loop forever. [sic]"
Lastly, another added: "Titmus' coach Dean Boxall looked like every living room across the country. What a moment."
Per The Guardian, Titmus herself reacted to her win in a later interview, stating: "I'm over the moon – I'm trying to contain it as much as I can, I’ve got a big program ahead of me, and then I can enjoy this afterward.
"I'd prefer to know that I did everything for my other races as well, so I’m trying not to get too excited just yet."
