Cody Garbrandt emerged victorious over Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250 last night and secured the victory with a stunning knockout just moments being the end of the second round.

The knockout came just as the buzzer sounded, marking a triumphant return of "No Love" at the Octagon in the co-main event at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas.

Watch the spectacular knockout below:

Prior to the knockout, Garbrandt had been pegged back against the cage, but he showed his true skill with a head movement to slip that enabled him to catch Assuncao flush on the jaw with a right hook.

Needless to say, Twitter users were impressed by the knockout. Here are some of the best tweet reactions:

Brett Okamoto of ESPN wrote: "One of the most gangster KO's we've seen in a minute!!! Hands down, back against the wall. Slip and rippppppp, Assuncao out COLD. Welcome back Cody Garbrandt."

This marks an incredible win for the former champion, who secured his 10th KO/TKO in MMA and picked scored his first win he took the title from Dominick Cruz back in December 2016, and simultaneously ended a three-fight losing streak.

It was also the second bantamweight bout at the event to end in a brutal punch, with Sean O'Malley knocking out Eddie Wineland earlier on in round one.

"The Sean O'Malley hype train continues to pick up steam as the 25-year-old advances to 12-0 with a highlight reel Knockout vs Eddie Wineland at UFC 250 (1:54 Round: 1)"

Following the event, UFC legend Conor McGregor announced his retirement from professional fighting.

The 31-year-old former UFC Featherweight Champion and UFC Lightweight Champion made the announcement on Twitter to his 8.1 million followers on the heels of last night's UFC250 event.

He wrote alongside a picture of him and his mom, Margaret McGregor:

"Hey guys I’ve decided to retire from fighting. Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been!

Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins! Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you!

Whatever you desire it’s yours."

The announcement comes nearly five months after his last appearance in the Octagon; a victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC246.

However, longtime fans of McGregor will know that this is not the first time he has announced his retirement from the sport.

In fact, "The Notorious One" made a similar announcement in March of last year, writing on social media:

"Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as 'Mixed Martial Art' today.

"I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement.

"Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!"

And then back in April of 2016, McGregor also made the announcement that he would be retiring young, informing his Twitter followers:

"I have decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese.

"Catch ya's later."

So... I guess we'll have to wait and see whether or not McGregor will, in fact, remain out of the Octagon for good.
