If you're a celebrity, even a major athlete, then you've gotta watch what you post on social media. There are all kinds of people out there watching your various accounts like hawks, and it's sadly all-too-common for seemingly innocuous pictures to be seized upon by trolls.
For instance, this week the renowned soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo has received a number of harsh comments from trolls on Instagram, after sharing a picture of himself sitting in a bathtub with his kids.
Recently, Ronaldo was reduced to tears in this interview with Piers Morgan:The trouble began when the Juventus and Portugal striker took to Instagram to post a picture of himself in the tub with his many children: Cristiano Jr, twins Eva and Mateo, two, and his daughter Alana. The footballer captioned the post simply: "Funny moment with my babies."
The vast majority of comments from Ronaldo's 205 million followers were wholly positive, with his friends and admirers alike congratulating the sportsman for how cute his family is, and telling him what a fantastic father he clearly is.
However, other comments were far more critical, with some Instagram users going so far as to suggest that an adult man (even a father) bathing with his young children was inappropriate.
For instance, one person with the handle @d4nii_gp wrote: "Dude... They are ur kids wtf are u doin?" [sic] Meanwhile, someone else going by the handle chazhughes9 stated: "In England we call this incest. [sic]"
The photograph was probably snapped by the soccer player's girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez. Per British tabloid newspaper The Daily Mail, Rodriguez was recently forced to quash rumors that the two of them had married in a secret ceremony in North Africa.
