The dad in the middle of the "Phillies Karen" story has urged everyone to lay off the woman who has been getting a lot of heat.
The incident took place during a Philadelphia Phillies vs. Miami Marlins game at LoanDepot Park on September 5, 2025, and quickly became a heated topic of debate across social media.
What was supposed to be a fun family outing for Drew Feltwell and his 10-year-old son, Lincoln, turned into a viral spectacle, all thanks to a confrontation over a home run ball.
The Incident: A Heated Dispute Over a Home Run Ball
As the Phillies and Marlins faced off, a woman, now dubbed "Phillies Karen," found herself in the spotlight after she demanded that Feltwell give up the home run ball he had just snagged for his son.
The altercation began when the woman confronted Feltwell, insisting that the ball was hers due to its landing in front of her section.
The situation quickly escalated, with the woman raising her voice and even flipping the bird to nearby fans. Her actions were caught on camera, sparking an outpouring of criticism from internet users.
However, the story didn’t end with the viral backlash. The incident quickly became a polarizing topic, with some online commenters defending the woman’s actions.
Some argued that she had every right to the ball, pointing out that it had initially landed near her, and Feltwell allegedly "ran over several seats" to grab it.
While most online reactions leaned heavily against the woman, calling her actions rude and entitled, others empathized with her position.
One commenter remarked: “Could she have handled it better? Should he have relaxed knowing it was for a kid? Yes to both, but we don’t know she wasn’t getting it for a kid back home.”
This opinion suggested that perhaps the woman was simply standing her ground, albeit in a less-than-ideal way.
Drew Feltwell Speaks Out
Drew Feltwell, the father at the center of the controversy, took to Fox News to share his perspective.
"She was very vulgar. Screaming right in my ear... 'That’s my ball,'" Feltwell explained to, recounting how the woman aggressively insisted the ball was hers.
Despite the tension, Feltwell chose to defuse the situation by handing over the ball. "It was tough giving the ball back, but it ended that situation. I hope that ball meant a lot to her,” he said.
“Please don't do anything to that lady,’’ Feltwell told USA TODAY Sports. “Leave it alone. You know, somebody knows her and can talk to her, that's different. But God, I don't want people breaking in their house and stuff like that. The internet already messed her up pretty good.’’
"I don’t want her life ruined, but she brought that on. She’s going to pay for that, and it’s not by my hand," Feltwell added.
The Feltwell Family's Positive Ending
Despite the drama, there was a silver lining to this story for Drew Feltwell and his son.
After the game, Lincoln was invited to meet Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader, who not only gave him the home run ball back but also presented him with a bat as a gift.
"Our evening worked out quite well afterward," Feltwell reflected, despite the tense situation earlier in the day.
