Fans concerned after ex-NFL star Rodney Harrison has 'scary' incident during live broadcast

Former NFL star and current NBC analyst Rodney Harrison prompted widespread concern from viewers after an unexpected and unsettling moment during Sunday Night Football. The 52-year-old appeared to freeze mid-sentence during a pregame segment, leaving fans worried about his well-being.

Harrison Freezes Mid-Analysis on Live TV

Ahead of the Denver Broncos’ narrow 27–26 win over the Washington Commanders, Harrison was asked about “the best way to attack” Washington’s defense. As he began to respond, he abruptly paused, seemed to lose his train of thought, and then asked for the question to be repeated.

“The best way to attack them…” he began, before stopping again.

After another long pause, he added: “There’s a lot of stuff going on, I’m sorry. They don’t have a lot of discipline on the defensive side of the ball. That’s it. I’m sorry guys.”

The awkward moment immediately sent viewers to social media, where concern spread rapidly.

Fans Quickly Voice Worry Over Rodney Harrison

The clip made the rounds on X almost instantly, with fans and sports writers alike asking if Harrison was okay.

“Is Rodney Harrison ok?” NFL reporter Charles Robinson wrote.

Others echoed the sentiment:

“Something not right with Rodney Harrison tonight.”

“Saw this live and was genuinely worried.”

“What’s going on with Rodney Harrison? Someone needs to check on him.”

Some viewers even tagged NBC directly, urging them to ensure the analyst was physically alright.

Positive Update: Harrison Able to Continue On-Air

While neither NBC nor Harrison has issued a formal statement, the analyst did remain on the broadcast and continued contributing throughout the night. Viewers noted that he seemed fully recovered as the segment went on.

Media outlet Awful Announcing also shared an update, reporting that Harrison was fine and would appear during NBC’s postgame coverage on Peacock.

Rodney Harrison’s Legacy as an NFL Great

Harrison, who played from 1994 to 2008, built one of the most respected defensive careers of his era. Splitting his time between the San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots, he won two Super Bowls and earned three All-Pro selections, according to Talk Sport.

He also became the first player in NFL history to record both 30 sacks and 30 interceptions. After retiring in 2009, Harrison transitioned into broadcasting, becoming a mainstay on NBC’s *Football Night in America*. In 2025, he was inducted into the Chargers Hall of Fame.

Though the moment was brief, it clearly worried viewers who have long admired Harrison both on and off the field. For now, fans are relieved he was able to finish the broadcast and are hoping for reassurance in the days ahead.
