Lewis Hamilton has shared a heartbreaking four-word response after the sad death of his beloved dog Roscoe.
The loss of his dog clearly hit Hamilton hard, as he is a known animal lover.
In fact, the whole Formula 1 community came together to support Hamilton during a rough time.
Lewis Hamilton and Roscoe were the darlings of the Formula 1 pit lane
Roscoe, a bulldog, had been a part of the F1 star’s life since 2013, but in recent times he had struggled with his health.
On Sunday evening, the seven-time champion announced that he had to take the heart-wrenching decision to put him to sleep because of his pneumonia.
The Ferrari driver even missed a race tire test to spend some last time with his dog.
Their bond was truly special.
Afterwards, Hamilton shared the news with his followers, writing: “"After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe.
"He never stopped fighting, right until the very end.
"I feel so grateful and honoured to have shared my life with such a beautiful soul, an angel and true friend."
"Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made, and I will forever cherish the memories we created together."
Afterwards, he issued a four-word statement that referred to another dog adopted at the same time, Coco, who died in 2020.
“He’s with Coco now,” Hamilton later shared on X.
Support has flooded in since Roscoe’s death
Hamilton shared the news online, and the F1 world rallied around.
Even the racing competition itself shared a post on X, writing: “Rest in Peace Roscoe Hamilton, a true star in his own right
“Lewis Hamilton’s beloved Roscoe brought smiles to the paddock and warmed the hearts of fans all over the world.
“Our thoughts are with Lewis during this difficult time.
“Rest easy Roscoe, from paddock pup to Dogue icon, thank you for the pawprints you left on all of our hearts.”
Many fans were quick to share their sympathies with Lewis, too.
One wrote: “One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do is put my dog down of 12 years. People who aren’t lucky enough to have a companion like that can’t fully understand the pain.
“He had the best life of a dog could have!”
“We will never forget Roscoe, said another.
“They’re together again… Roscoe and Coco, running free side by side. Rest easy, angels,” said a third.
