Grayson Murray's caddie has released a statement following the sudden death of golf star.

On Saturday (May 25), PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan confirmed in a statement that two-time PGA Tour winner Murray had passed away earlier that morning at the age of 30.

"We were devastated to learn – and are heartbroken to share – that PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray passed away this morning," Commissioner Monahan said in his statement. "The PGA TOUR is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same.

"We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones."

Although no official cause of death has been reported, the heartbreaking news comes less than 24 hours after Murray was forced to withdraw from the end of his second round the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas after revealing that he was feeling unwell.

As the golfing world continues to mourn the unexpected loss, now Murray's caddie - Jay Green - has shared his tribute to a "thoughtful and generous boss" and "an even better friend", per the Daily Mail.

Green's statement reads: "Grayson was the absolute best. Not only was he an incredible, thoughtful and generous boss, he was an even better friend.

He truly would do anything for anyone. He has the best family, and my heart goes out to them. We will all miss him deeply."

In an additional Instagram post, Green shared several photos of the duo together, writing: "G Money, you were the very best. I love you brother. I miss you already. Thank you for the memories. May your soul rest in peace."

fellow PGA Tour golfer Peter Malnati has given an emotional interview following the third round of the Charles Schwab Challenge. You can watch below:

Malnati had been paired with Murray in the first and second rounds of the tournament, and clearly the bond they shared left a lasting impression on the 36-year-old, as he broke down in tears talking about his golfing foe.

Others in the golfing world to pay tribute to Murray include U.S. Open champion and Murray's friend of 20 years Webb Simpson, who spoke out about Murray's newfound passion for his Christian faith. "He has really explored his faith over the years, and it seems like the last six months to eight months, he had really started committing his life to Christ and trying to honor Christ with his life," Webb said.

"It definitely seemed like there was more of a lightness to him in a good way over these past few months when I would see him."

Golfer Bubba Watson also tweeted: "Very sad to hear the news of Grayson Murray’s passing today. Life is so fragile… I was just hugging you at the Masters, telling you how proud of you I am. Thankful to have known you.

"My deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. He will be missed."

Luke Donald also paid tribute, writing on X: "Truly devastating news that Grayson Murray has passed away. He asked me for some advice on how to play Augusta a few months ago, last week I saw him at the PGA Championship, life truly is precious.

"My condolences and prayers to his whole family that they may find some peace."

Murray's exceptional golfing talent was evident from a young age. He clinched three consecutive Callaway Junior World Championships from 2006 to 2008 and quickly rose to becoming the top ranked player for his age group.

As a PGA TOUR rookie, Murray wasted no time making his presence felt. In 2017, and at just 23 years old, he secured the victory at the Barbasol Championship.

His final-round heroics not only secured a one-shot victory but also granted him a two-year exemption through the 2019 PGA Tour season. Despite facing stiff competition, Murray finished 66th in the FedExCup and earned nearly $1.5 million.

Murray kicked off the 2024 season with a playoff victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii. A nerve-wracking up-and-down on the 72nd hole forced a playoff, where he would eventually prevail over Byeong Hun An and Keegan Bradley.

This victory catapulted him to a career-high 46th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

He was engaged to be married, and - back in January - spoke out about being eight months sober following struggles with alcoholism and his mental health.

Our thoughts continue to go out to Murray's family, friends, and fans at this time.
