On Saturday night (April 17), Jake Paul defeated Ben Askren by a first-round TKO in their highly-anticipated boxing match.
The 24-year-old YouTuber backed up his promise to defeat the former MMA world champion, and did so in less than 120 seconds after the referee deemed Askren unable to continue and ended the bout.
The victory over the 36-year-old meant that Paul is now 3-0 in his professional boxing career, however, some viewers - including many high-profile professional fighters - have taken to social media to question the legitimacy of the fight.
Ringside footage in the tweet above certainly shows Paul connecting with a seemingly devastating blow, but not all fans were buying it.
Sharing footage of Askren after the fight, one Twitter user wrote: "Ben Askren celebrating with his family after he just got 'knocked out'..."
This was echoed by current UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, who tweeted: "Who paid the ref?"
Former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby Covington also took aim at the bout, describing it as a "work" (a term used in combat sports to describe something that was scripted to happen).
A fourth Twitter user shared a screenshot of Askren following his loss and joked: "This is the happiest any fighter has ever looked after losing. Congrats on securing the bag."
More harsh critics of the fight certainly didn't hold back on social media. One Twitter user wrote: "It was all a fix, he got paid covered all of his debt! And all hi had to do was fall...The real suckers were those who paid to watch this..."
Another scorned fan typed: "Paul v. Askren looked fixed. Askren got the paycheck and Paul gets to tell himself he's the toughest guy with half a beard you'll ever see. Rigged fight, for sure."
Per CBS Sports, Askren took home $500,000 in disclosed pay for the bout.
Speaking to reporters following the fight, Askren certainly seemed disappointed by his performance, saying: "I didn't let the MMA community down, I let the world down. People f***ing hate Jake Paul and they wanted to see me make him miserable and I didn't do that."
On the other hand, Paul was overjoyed with his win, telling the press: "It's been four months, I've been in training camp every day. I deserve this s**t. I don't know how many times I have to prove myself that this is for real."
