A ball girl for the Los Angeles Dodgers has been showered with praise after tackling a field invader.
The incident occurred on Sunday, August 8, as the Dodgers played against their rivals, the LA Angels.
Prior to the Dodger's eventual 6-1 win, a male fan ran onto the field and processed to sprint across Dodger Stadium. With numerous members of security unable to keep up with the fan, it looked like he would make it out of the stadium without any issues. That was, however, until he was faced with Marissa Rohan.
Sporting a No. 93 Dodgers jersey, the 24-year-old ball girl showed no fear as she pounced on the fan, sending him flying over the barricade and achieving what the many security personnel failed to do.
Spectator footage captured the epic moment, and showed people in the crowd cheering and applauding Rohan for the tackle.
Per the New York Post, Rohan is a senior at Cal State Northridge, pursuing a degree in deaf studies and has worked for the Dodgers since 2019.
Sharing messages of support to her Instagram Story, Rohan joked that the encounter was "a rough day at work".
Over on Twitter, people were just as supportive, with one person writing: "@Eagles
sign this girl. Great tackle. Ballgirl to linebacker. Imagine the Disney movie."
A second tweeted: "She leveled the dude like she's been waiting all of her life to mess somebody up."
Sharing a clip to their official Twitter account, TSN Sports tweeted: "The Dodgers ball girl is the hero we never knew we deserved."
Another fan simply wrote: "Marissa the ball girl at Dodger Stadium is my hero!"
It seems that moments like this have been the highlight of recent baseball games.
Back in June, a mom went viral on social media for successfully catching a foul ball - all while carrying her baby.
Taking place during a San Diego Padres versus Chicago Cubs game, the unsuspecting mom managed to catch a foul ball during the top of the sixth inning after Chicago pinch-hitter Jake Marisnick ripped a pitch off Yu Darvish.
The clip was later shared to the official Padres Twitter account, and even caused the announcer to comment: "Right-handed grab - baby in tow."
I guess it just goes to show that anything can happen at a baseball game!
