An Olympic commentator had a six-word response after an athlete-turned-OnlyFans-star celebrated her bronze medal in the most provocative way she could.

Canadian star Alysha Newman wowed viewers on Wednesday (August 7) after finishing third place in the pole vault at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 30-year-old has been heavily praised for her recent accomplishment at the sports event as she made history as Canada’s first pole vault medalist in 112 years.

She also reached a height of 4.85 meters - setting a national record in the process.

Newman crowned off an incredible bronze-winning performance by unveiling her raunchy celebration to the crowd.

The athlete showcased her sense of humor by jumping off the mat and holding her hamstring muscle as if she'd pulled a muscle. But it turns out she was only joking as she then bent her legs, placed her hands on her thighs, and started twerking.

Some viewers, including a BBC commentator who was covering the track and field event, appeared unimpressed with the celebration as they remarked: "I'm not sure about that celebration," as cited by The Mirror.

However, others applauded Newman's lighthearted impromptu dance as one user wrote: "Bronze for Alysha Newman in pole vault, gold for Newman in best celebrations of the Paris Olympics," adding: "The fake hammy twerk."

Another social media user asked: "Alysha Newman. Was that a twerk?" before adding, "That was awesome, she got into the moment."

"Did Alysha Newman just successfully pole vault AND TWERK? LET'S GO GIRLS," a third shared, per the outlet.

Newman reflected on her viral celebration, revealing that she wanted to scare her “intense” coaches who built her up to become an Olympic medalist.

“I’m always injured, and I’m always getting back on the horse so I said I’m gonna go and scare my coaches because I want them to lighten up,” she told CBC Sports. “So I said I’m gonna fake an injury and dance after.”

“It just happened very fluid,” she continued to explain. “I didn’t think I’m gonna twerk, but just from grabbing that to getting to the knee with a twerk it all just worked out in one.”

She also spoke about her impressive victory to CBC, sharing: "I laugh because getting third is, I mean I've never got third, but it's funny because you have to still wait and sit there and wait until the other girls are done."

"So I'm so awkwardly standing there like, 'What do I do? Do I celebrate? Do I kiss everyone? Do I cry?" she said. "It was a really surreal moment and it was awesome."

"I just feel like I'm very emotionally stable right now and just feel so honored to be the first [women's] pole vaulter to bring home an Olympic medal for Canada," she concluded.

Following her viral performance, Newman spoke to the German publication BILD about her presence on OnlyFans, where roughly 65,000 users have “liked” her profile.

The Olympian charges subscribers $12 per month and shares content about her training sessions, according to the publication.

“Of course, many people have a certain cliché when they think of OnlyFans. I can’t change many people’s minds,” she said. "But this website has connected me with many fans, more than any other pole vaulter before. What others think about it doesn’t bother me. I am who I am and I do it well.”

“I earn money with what I post – you have to log in to find out. It makes me confident and I feel good about it,” Newman added.

The athlete is hoping to compete in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles and is interested in the silver or a gold medal.
