People are paying tribute following the tragic death of a teenage boxer from the UK, who had been hailed as a "future world champion".

Jude Moore, a 19-year-old boxer who represented England in 2017 at the EUBC Junior European Championships in Romania, was found dead on March 17, his family confirmed (via BBC News).

According to the outlet, boxing trainer Craig Turner described the young athlete as"immaculate" and "by far the best boxing talent that emerged" from Bristol (his hometown in the UK) of those in his age group.

"There's nothing that any of us really did to develop that talent. It was just his flair, his uniqueness, his personality," Turner said. "There was only one, there could only ever be one and it's just a shame that we will never see him fulfil his potential."

Per ITV News, the boxing trainer added: "He was an absolute star, irreplaceable. Once you met him, you would never forget him."

He went on: "I think he was one of those kids who was forever young and was just not meant to get old. One of my favourite memories was when he was called up as a last minute replacement to box for England against a boxer from the USA who had been unbeaten in 200 bouts.

"He puffed out his chest, walked out the ‘Sweet Caroline’ and went out and beat him – that and Glenn Catley winning a world championship are my best moments in boxing.

"The fact that he came from one of the most deprived wards in Great Britain to do what he did and achieved what he did is nothing short of amazing. Downend Boxing Club exists for people like him."

Shortly before he passed away, Moore had secured a victory in his first senior match after he knocked out the Polish national champion and was set to compete in Milan this week.

Continuing to praise the late sports star, Turner described him as "the most talented kid I have seen come out of Bristol."

He said: "Jude lived for his boxing. He lived and breathed it. I have never seen anyone with such an analytical mind and he could real of the statistics of all the champions at all the weights.

"He was outstanding at everything he did and we are devastated. He didn’t burn for long, but he burned very brightly for the time he did."

The teenager was a two-time national champion and his passion for boxing was inspired by his father and uncle. He had recently left from the Bristol club to train at the Hoddesdon Boxing Academy in Hertfordshire under the management of Sab Leo.

Moore is survived by his parents, Mark and Carla, and brothers, Ethan and Beau.

A GoFundMe has been set up by Downend Boxing to support his family amid the tragedy.

The description for the fundraiser reads: "Jude was a highly talented, supremely fit 19-year-old boxer who was tragically taken from us on 17 March 2023.

"His parents, Mark and Carla, and brothers, Ethan and Beau, currently have no answers as to what happened to this larger-than-life character.

"Whilst nothing anyone can say or do can lessen the sense of loss they and everyone who knew Jude feels, we can show them our love and support with a donation towards the cost of the funeral that should never have to be."

Nearly £7,000 ($8,500) has been raised thus far.
