The teammates of a soccer-loving teenager who was murdered in Mexico have come together to help their late friend score one more goal.
Per Reuters, 16-year-old Alexander Martinez was killed in Mexico after an apparent case of mistaken identity. His funeral was held in Vicente Camalote on Thursday.
However, the conclusion of his funeral took an emotional - albeit rather unconventional - turn, when his teammates transported his casket to the court where they used to play soccer.
Positioning the casket perfectly in front of the goal, Martinez's teammates passed the ball to the casket, allowing the ball to bounce off and enter the goal. The friends then embraced their fallen friend one final time.
You can watch the emotional moment in the video below:The teenager's casket was buried shortly after the fitting tribute.
Following the emotional footage being uploaded to social media, many people have commented on the solidarity and love between the friends.
BBC Sports Correspondent Natalie Pirks responded to the video, writing: "The way they try to 'hug' him at the end...you’ve got me this morning."
Twitter user Alec responded by typing: "That's lovely. Sport is so joyful. Brings hope at times of immense pain. Lovely story."
And a third commented: "Whew. Talk about some immediate waterworks. What an emotional, unique, final moment together for them all."
And this isn't the first time South American soccer fans have celebrated their loved ones and the "beautiful game" in this way.
Last year, a group of Cúcuta Deportivo 'Ultras' carried the casket of 17-year-old fan Christopher Jácome into the General Santander stadium so that he could enjoy one more game.
Jácome was killed playing soccer, and his family gave permission for his friends to take him to one more match.
Cúcuta were down 1-0 against Envigado prior to Jácome's casket entering the stadium. His team were then able to bring it back and end on a 1-1 draw.
