The Australian 2020 Tennis Open qualifiers are underway, but nobody is talking about winners or losers today - instead, the biggest story to come from the tournament is over a banana.
Cameras caught the bizarre moment tennis star Elliot Benchetrit was scorned by the match umpire after asking a ball girl to peel his banana while taking a break on the sidelines.
The incident came as Benchetrit (seeded 229) took on Dmitry Popko in an Australian Open Qualifier in Melbourne.
In the video, the ball girl is clearly shocked at the odd request, turning to the umpire for some direction. At that moment, umpire John Blom scorned Benchetrit and told him to peel his own banana.
Check out the baffling moment below:After a brief war-of-words with Blom, the tennis star eventually peeled his own banana... by biting one end of it (your guess is as good as mine).
Benchetrit appears to struggle with peeling the fruit due to his fingers being bandaged.
Regardless, people on Twitter were "creeped" out by the odd request, and they certainly didn't hide their feelings about the tennis star's actions towards the ball girl.
Twitter user Glen Hill wrote: "Love the ball kid's look of bemusement toward the umpire ... as in 'Help, I seem to be dealing with a lunatic should I just peel is banana and be done with it?'"
And an angry Maria Garcia tweeted: "What a nasty piece of work, this player is beyond rude. Well done to the umpire for spotting this prima donna and abusive behavior!"

And one man by the name of Jim Loton claimed to be the cameraman who captured the incident, also claimed that Benchetrit was rude to the ball kids throughout the game: "Camera work by yours truly, here. He was rude to the ball kids multiple times during the match."
Let's never forget the moment this 'thirsty' fan was caught on camera:Benchetrit did go on to defeat his opponent and qualify for the main tournament... but nobody's talking about that today. Let's hope he doesn't turn up to the next match with a pineapple.
