The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs went head-to-head at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday (February 9).

This showdown marked the second championship meeting between the two teams, following their thrilling battle in Super Bowl LVII two years ago.

The Chiefs secured their ticket to the Super Bowl with playoff wins over the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills.

Meanwhile, the Eagles fought their way through the postseason with victories against the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Washington Commanders, led by standout performances from star running back Saquon Barkley.

The first half was completely dominated by the Eagles, as they stormed to a commanding 24-0 lead over the defending champions.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts set the tone early, orchestrating a 69-yard drive in the first quarter, capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run to give Philadelphia an early 7-0 advantage.

In the second quarter, the Eagles' defense ramped up the pressure on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean intercepted a pass and ran it back 38 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead to 17-0.

And just before Kendrick Lamar’s electrifying halftime performance, the Eagles capitalized on another turnover.

Linebacker Zack Baun picked off Mahomes, setting up a 12-yard touchdown pass from Hurts to wide receiver A.J. Brown, sending Philadelphia into the break with a dominant 24-0 lead.

The Eagles continued to maintain their dominance over the Kansas City Chiefs in the second half to win a decisive 40-22 victory.

The team's incredible performance on both sides of the ball ensured their triumph which prevented the Chiefs from achieving a historic third consecutive Super Bowl win.

As green and white confetti rained down, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni took a moment to express his gratitude, calling football the ultimate team game and emphasizing that greatness isn’t achieved alone.

“These guys didn’t want to let each other down," he said, per The Guardian. Safe to say, they delivered on that promise.

Jalen Hurts also spoke to reporters. He thanked God and reflected on the lessons learned from both victories and setbacks.

“The good and the bad…we had a special group this year, we were able to learn from the past…defense wins championships," he said.

Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles!
