The director of Squid Game has revealed why one of the main characters dyed their hair red, after fans of the hit show fueled speculation online.
The hugely popular Korean Netflix series has become the most-watched show on the platform in more than 90 countries, and fans of the show have been showering the cast with praise for delivering incredibly poignant and nuanced performances throughout its nine episodes.
The show centers around a group of 456 people who risk their lives as part of a mysterious survival show in a bid to win $38,460,271.20 (₩45.6 billion).

As grim and jarring as the games were, nothing was quite as surprising as Seong Gi-Hun's final appearance in the hit series.
When he visits the hair salon, the popular main character opted to have his signature dark hair dyed bright red - a decision no one saw coming.
It's fair to say, lots of viewers were confused by this decision, with one tweeting: "Finished Squid Game. Not sure how I feel about the ending. Also super confused why the main character decided to dye his hair red at the end."

Another wrote: "I finished Squid Games several days ago. Still trying to make sense of the red hair."
A third added: "Anyways, why did the man in Squid Game have to dye his hair red in the end????? That was confusing and a very odd decision."
In an interview with Zapzee, the show's director Hwang Dong-hyuk explains that his new look is a reflection of the character's inner rage.
He told the outlet: "I thought about this intuitively, thinking about how Gi Hun should change his hair in a hair salon. I imagined being him and thought to myself, 'what is the color that you would never choose to dye your hair?'
"Then I came to the conclusion that Gi Hun would never dye his hair red. It would be the craziest thing for him to do. So I chose the color and I thought it really showed his inner anger."
