Jung Ho-yeon has revealed that she lost 6 pounds in the week after Squid Game was released on Netflix.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress - who starred as player 067 in the hit series - opened up about how the show's incredible success took a toll on her personally.

The hugely popular Korean series has become the most-watched show on Netflix in more than 90 countries, and fans of the show have been showering the cast with praise for delivering incredibly poignant and nuanced performances throughout its nine episodes.

The show centers around a group of 456 people who risk their lives as part of a mysterious survival show in a bid to win $38,460,271.20 (₩45.6 billion).

What's more, the show raked in over $900 million for Netflix.

Jung, who plays North Korean defector Kang Sae-byeok, said she realized the show was going to be a big the week after it was released.

"I think [I knew] a week after it opened," Jung, whose first acting role was in Squid Game, said. "I couldn't follow the speed of the growth of the Squid Game success because, since COVID, I think everything is faster and even online, it happens just so quick."

She went on: "It was hard to follow. I lost 6 pounds in a week when it became successful. I couldn't eat — it wasn't stress, I just didn't know this feeling. 'What's going on out there, who am I?' I was kind of losing myself.

"Now, I feel very comfortable with the 'Squid Game' team, so I can slowly get used to this success with people. But when I was at home by myself watching this growth, I was like, 'What?'"

It comes as Season 2 of the hit show was officially confirmed by Squid Game's creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.

Dong-hyuk revealed the exciting news to Associated Press after much speculation whether fans of the hit show will get to see more after major success.

After the first season of the show ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger, fans have been speculating whether or not Gi-hun's adventures will come to life in a follow-up.

"So, there's been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice," Dong-hyuk said.

"But, I will say there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently. But I do think it's too early to say when and how that's going to happen."
