British author, JK Rowling, has deleted a tweet expressing her admiration for fellow writer, Stephen King, after he confirmed on the social media platform that he supports transgender women.

The Harry Potter author, who has been embroiled in a row over transgender rights for the last few weeks, had taken to Twitter to tweet about Labour MP, Lloyd Russell-Moyle, who accused her of "using" her experience of domestic abuse to promote discrimination against the transgender community - something that he has since apologized for "unreservedly".

"Whilst I may disagree with some of her analysis on trans rights, it was wrong of me to suggest that she used her own dreadful experience in anything other than good faith," Russell-Moyle continued on Twitter.

This comes after Rowling published a nearly 4,000-word essay, where she spoke about her history with domestic violence, while defending earlier tweets that enraged the trans community writ large.

The 54-year-old proceeded to share a quote from the feminist writer, Andrea Dworkin, on Twitter about how men treat women's opinions as if they are "acts of violence".

The IT author retweeted the tweet to his own personal feed.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, Rowling wrote that her admiration for King had reached "new heights".

"It’s so much easier for men to ignore women’s concerns, or to belittle them, but I won’t ever forget the men who stood up when they didn’t need to. Thank you, Stephen," she added.

However, after being asked by a fan about his stance on transgender issues, King asserted that "Trans women are women."

His clarification appeared to have irked Rowling as she has since deleted her tweet regarding King, and some Twitter users have speculated that she has also unfollowed the author on the platform.

"Rowling tweeting a thank you to stephen king for retweeting her feminism tweet, and then deleting her thank you after he tweeted 'trans women are women' to someone else, is example #9999 that terfs are more interested in being anti-trans woman than they are in being pro-cis woman [sic]," commented one Twitter user.
