A video of Steve Harvey in which he says men and women can't be friends has resurfaced on the internet.
In the unearthed 2010 appearance on CNN’s Face to Face with Fredricka Whitfield, the Family Feud host said that he's "incapable" of having a platonic friendly relationship with women.
What's more, the "90-day rule" creator added that "99.9%" of men feel that way.
He explained to the host: "All of my friends are men. I don't have female friends. I'm incapable of that.
Clearly confused by the claim, host Fredricka can be heard asking off-camera: "What do you mean? I wanna know why!"
Harvey responds to her: "You're an attractive woman. There are some guys somewhere saying, 'Yeah, we're friends.' No, that's not true."
He added: "He's your friend only because you have made it absolutely clear that nothing is happening except this friendship we have. We [men] remain your friends in hopes that one day there'll be a crack in the door, a chink in the armor and trust."
He added: "And trust and believe that guy that you think is just your buddy, he will slide in that crack the moment he gets the opportunity."
The video reemerged on social media after a TikTok user shared it on the app.
Since then, the clip has racked up over 16 million views, and more than 2 million TikTok users have liked it.
The video has received mixed responses from fans, who rushed to social media to discuss whether Harvey's stance is outdated.
Speaking in support of the TV host, one Twitter user wrote: "Steve Harvey ain’t lying about platonic relationships between men & women.
"I can count on one hand the amount of men that have actually just wanted to be my FRIEND & nothing more. & even those two people probably had thoughts but just respected me enough not to move on them."
Meanwhile another agreed, adding: "I 100% agree with everything Steve Harvey said in that video!"
Another wrote: "I agree with Steve Harvey. Although I do have male friends most have suggested. If given the chance I know they would advance at me. I see nothing wrong in what he said."
But although some agreed with his viewpoint, others shared why they saw a fault in what he said.
One wrote: "Steve Harvey says that men and women can’t be friends especially if they are in committed relationships. I strongly disagree. My female best friend is married and her and I have never had any issues.
"Her husband had issues however that was because of the baggage of his past."
Another added: "Disagree. It is the case for some men who are incapable of being friends with women, but it is EXTREMELY annoying that the people that agree with Steve Harvey think it applies to all men being incapable of friendship with women."
While a third chimed in: "I like Steve Harvey but he’s 100% wrong at least to me. I have many just platonic female friends that have no feelings for each other at all."
It's unclear if Harvey still has the same opinion on the matter over a decade later.
