Taylor Swift has finally addressed those sexuality rumors and let's just say, the star had a lot to say about this particular topic.
Now, it's no secret that the 33-year-old has been romantically linked with several famous men throughout her career, but despite this, many wondered whether the 'Love Story' hitmaker could still be secretly bisexual.
Well, Swift herself has now addressed all the rumors in the prologue for her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album which was released earlier today.
The singer explained how she made the conscious decision to start strictly hanging out with women after it "became clear" that she could not casually date or even "platonically hang out with" men without people assuming they were "sleeping together."
"And so I swore off hanging out with guys. Dating, flirting, or anything that could be weaponized against me by a culture that claimed to believe in liberating women but consistently treated me with the harsh moral codes of the Victorian era," she wrote, as per screenshots that were leaked to Twitter.
So in order to stand against the unrealistic standards she was held against, Swift decided to limit hanging out with men and enjoy more quality time with her girlfriends - but unfortunately, that backfired too.
"I swore off dating and decided to focus only on myself, my music, my growth, and my female friendships," she continued. "If I only hung out with my female friends, people couldn’t sensationalize or sexualize that right? I would learn later on that people could and people would."
Back in 2019, Swift was also forced to deny that her song 'Me!' on the album Lover was a subtle nod to her alleged queerness.
Speaking to Vogue, she said that the inspiration behind the song was meant to reflect the positivity of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially during a time of political change for them.
"Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male," she explained to the outlet. "I didn’t realize until recently that I could advocate for a community that I’m not a part of.
"It’s hard to know how to do that without being so fearful of making a mistake that you just freeze," she continued. "Because my mistakes are very loud. When I make a mistake, it echoes through the canyons of the world."
Despite all the fan theories, Swift has never publicly been in a relationship with a woman.
1989 (Taylor's Version) is available to listen to now.
