Tekashi 6ix9ine has broken his silence after being rushed to hospital following a violent assault at a gym, revealing he thinks the attack was "cowardly".

The rapper, 26, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, had been jumped by three men while at a gym in South Florida earlier this month.

Three men have since been arrested in relation to the assault and robbery, with TMZ reporting that the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office arrested Rafael Medina, Jr., Octavious Medina, and Anthony Maldonado, who were booked on Thursday (March 30) and processed into county jail.

Now, 6ix9ine has broken his silence for the first time since the alleged attack, taking to Instagram to share a video of the incident and his response.

Alongside footage of him being punched and kicked by the three men, he wrote: "First time addressing the situation. For 2 years I been walking around with no security. Not saying I promote that BUT now you see I really never hid from anything.

"If you ever crossed my path or ever came to my house (you girls know who you are) ya can tell the world 'Danny drives his own cars and be solo'. You know how many of you people seen me in real life by myself in gas stations, supermarkets, restaurants, etc.

"Anyway what happen here was nothing but cowardly. I’m not mad this happened. In the street there’s no rules so I cant say they were wrong. Obviously it wasn’t fair but again the streets has no rules."

He added: "Just imagine having nothing to do to with a situation and feel obligated to make it your business. (Very weird) I’m happy to be here still. And I want to say I love my fans. Thank you.

"P.S : I never knew we respected jumping people. When did that ever become a W???"

The rapper's attorney, Lance Lazzaro, had first revealed that his client was rushed to a hospital for injuries to his jaw, ribs, and back after he was attacked at a sauna in LA Fitness in southern Florida on March 21, with footage of the incident circulating online.

At the time, the men involved in the incident remarked that they were assaulting him for being a "rat", after the 'Gooba' star took a plea deal to give police information on his former Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang associates.

He had faced decades in prison on racketeering and other charges which the plea deal reduced to a two-year sentence in 2019.

In the wake of the incident, 6ix9ine's bodyguard took to Instagram to post a story denying accusations that he had arranged for the two men to beat up his client at the gym.

He wrote at the time: "69 a grown man n he wanted to do cardio on his own. He be outside like that...I can't control him...but to say I set him up...false allegations.. [something] minorities used to...we be accused of nothing."

It was also reported that despite the incident, 6ix9ine had chosen not to increase his security, which his ex-girlfriend Jade, who is the mother of his daughter Saraiyah, deemed "reckless", especially with the attention his controversial court case brought him from many high-profile criminals and gang members.
