Tom Brady has spoken out after Travis Kelce's heated exchange with Kansas City Chiefs' head coach Andy Reid during the Super Bowl.
The Cheifs came out victorious against the San Fransisco 49ers at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday during one of the biggest events in the sports calendar.
It looked as though the 49ers were going to clinch the victory until Patrick Mahomes' touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman meant the defending champions managed to hold down the fort yet again after beating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 last year.
While the team may have managed to take the top spot, the game did not come without tension as seen in a viral moment where the Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce blew up at the coach Andy Reid. Re-watch the tense moment below:
In the wake of the drama, NFL legend Tom Brady has spoken out on the exchange and is opting to cut Kelce some slack.
"There's always little family issues and of course, I don't mind seeing it 'cause I was a part of a lot of those things," Brady said during an episode of his podcast Let's Go! with Tom Brady Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray. "You are definitely not centered and balanced. You're not in a meditative state at that point. You are fully determined to go out there and to win."
"So I think a lot of the things that are said during the games, people should just let them fly off their back," he added.
After the controversial moment gained a lot of traction online, Reid spoke of Kelce's passion for the game, as per ESPN.
"He caught me off balance," Reid said, indicating the contact was worse than it looked. "I wasn't watching. He was really coming over [and saying], 'Just put me in, I'll score. I'll score.' So, that's really what it was. I love that. It's not the first time. I appreciate him."
The coach continued: "The part I love is he loves to play the game and he wants to help his team win. It's not a selfish thing. That's not what it is. I understand that. As much as he bumps into me, I get after him and we understand that. He just caught me off balance."
Kelce also recalled his feelings during the exchange stating that his emotions got the better of him.
"I didn't care about my catches," he said. "I just wanted to ... I wanted the score to be different. Coach has asked us to speak our minds and I just wanted to let him know how much passion I had for this team.
"He's one of the best leaders of men I've ever seen in my life. And he's helped me a lot with that, with channeling that emotion, with channeling that passion. I owe my entire career to that guy and being able to kind of control how emotional I get and just love him."
