Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have reportedly been released from hospital in Australia after receiving coronavirus treatment.

Per Time, the couple were allowed to leave the hospital five days after being diagnosed with COVID-19. However, the state health department in Queensland did not comment on additional reports that Wilson and Hanks had left the hospital to self-isolate in a rented property.

In the video below, Tom and Rita's son, Chet, opens up about his parents' "crazy" diagnoses:

The news comes after Wilson took to social media on Friday to ask fans for suggestions for a quarantine playlist for all of those who are self-isolating from the coronavirus, which was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO) last week.

Hanks arrived in Australia in late January to film the as-yet-untitled Elvis Presley biopic, which is being directed by Baz Luhrmann. Per the Daily Mail, Luhrmann went into isolation after Hanks and Wilson tested positive.

Hanks announced that he had the illness on social media, writing:  "Hello, folks. @ritawilson and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive."

This man reveals his symptoms of the coronavirus:

Hanks continued: "Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hankses will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We'll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves! Hanx!"

This was followed by another update four days ago on Instagram where Hanks wrote to his 7.8 million followers: "Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness.

"We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx"

Production on the Elvis Presley biopic, where Hanks plays Elvis' manager, Colonel Tom Parker, has now been suspended.

Hanks and Wilson, however, are not the only big-name celebrities to contract COVID-19. Yesterday, it was announced that Luther actor Idris Elba tested positive for the coronavirus.
